wasn't Armanti like the 1-AA version of The Golden Calf of Bristol?

He was the Div-1 FCS's most prolific quarterback, although completely different than The Golden Calf of Bristol. If you meant the comparison by notoriety then yes.

This is clearly geared toward people planning on selling the autographs. I have a few qualms with it.

1) $20 for a rookie 3rd-round-pick's autograph? C'mon. I met Jonathan Stewart for free at Panthers in the Park.

2) $5 for an inscription? Most athletes are happy to do those for free, in fact I've never seen or met one who wouldn't. It proves you're not selling it. But instead of just saying "personalization" they're saying "inscription" to it, so people can have him write "2007 FCS Champs," "Go Apps" or the like, so they can put it on eBay under "ARMANTI EDWARDS AUTOGRAPHED BALL 1/1"

3) It's at a collectible store, not the Panthers' stadium or somewhere in Charlotte.

4) He can refuse to sign certain things, that's unheard of to me.

I think this is generally always the case. A player pretty much always retains the right to not sign what they don't want to sign, but in a controlled setting such as this a disclaimer is needed so that people don't bring objectionable affects. This is especially relevant for players that have potential emotionally damaging family histories. I doubt he would want to sign an article about his dad for instance.

Guest Scott's Collectibles

Hello folks, My name is Scott and I'm the owner of Scott's Collectibles in Kannapolis NC. IF anyone has any questions about the appearance feel free to let me know. I will do my best to answer them.

To answer those I saw, Why is there a fee? We are paying Armanti for his time to come into the store. We are also doing significant advertising including ad's in 7 newspapers including the Charlotte Observer. There is a very significant investment in advertising, close to approaching 5 figures. After recouping our investment we will be making an additional donation to the charity that Armanti chooses.

What charity will inscription money go to? As soon as Armanti informs me which charity he has selected I will let everyone know. As soon as we know we plan to invite the charity to be at the store that day and we hope to raise a fair amount for the charity.

Why can a player refuse to sign certain items? There's usually one person out there who brings something of questionable content, this is to prevent that. Rest assured that Mini Helmets, Helmets, Footballs, Trading Cards, the basic staples of autograph collecting are allowed.

Why should someone pay? Some people only want to go get an autograph for free at camp, practice, etc and thats certainly within your right. Some people do not have the time or desire to spend an entire day going to camp, etc. We are offering people a chance to meet Armanti and obtain an autograph in a more controlled setting.

Personalizations or inscriptions, why is there a fee? So that we can raise money for charity. IF you go to any major autograph show there is generally a fee for inscriptions, we feel a $5 donation to charity is a fair price considering what many others charge.

Trust me I would love to bring in a player and have them sign for free but honestly the costs associated with an event such as this make it where its not feasible. We do not want to turn a profit off of autograph fees, we simply would like to recoup our investment and then give some money to a charity.

There will be a special 5 X 7 Playoff Prestige Armanti Edwards printed on Photo Paper directly from Panini that is a wrapper redemption for purchasing packs of 2010 Panini Football Cards that day. There are just over 100 copies of this printed by Panini and you can only get it by buying 5 packs the day of the event. As most card collectors know Armanti did not have a Prestige Rookie, Panini was kind enough to design this for the event.

If anyone has any questions feel free to call the store at (704) 784-2277 and ask for Scott. I will not be in on this Saturday but I am generally there Sunday - Friday.

I can also be reached via email @ [email protected].

    • This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.
    • None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
    • I've got nothing else to say really than: Ayup. Here we are again. Again.  All we can really hope for is progress. If we improve as much again, it'll be good. If we don't, it'll be foretold.
