A little small, but, we've had a few young cherubs show they can play with the big boys.

How does he stack up against what we already have...

Definitely an upgrade on offense. FO% is pretty much a wash. (LS 48%, TJ 45%, JD 52%) I'm too lazy to find defensive ratings for all 3, but rest assured, if Stank wasn't at least serviceable on D, Rod would've nuked this trade in a heartbeat.

Also, fun fact about Stankoven. Although born in British Columbia, his family hails from The Netherlands. In fact, his last name is Dutch for, "Holding thy blanket over one's wife's head while cooking brussels sprouts."

Two late firsts and two late thirds, that will not play until 2030 at the earliest......

Terrible

Could always flip the value of the picks for other players. It's value. And it is damn fine value given what we gave up in the initial trade that started this whole debacle. This is absolutely best case scenario

Tell me how the Canes are better today than they were on December 20thm

This is a crap team that is getting to be worth not investing time and money in being a fan of.

2nd in the metro, 5th in the East and within striking distance of 2nd isn't exactly a crap team.

You're losing perspective man.

You didn't answer the question.

Making the playoffs isn't enough anymore. This team struggles to score they are 5-5 over the last 10.

We have 3 legit top 6 forwards.... three. Inconsistent injury prone goalies, no number one RHD a power play that has averaged 12% since December.

This team isn't making it past round 1.

Necas and Drury were never staying and everyone thought this season was going to be an off year because of all the changes and player losses in free agency.

they took a shot with two players that didn’t want to be here for a superstar level player who ended up not liking the area. So all in all they traded Necas and Drury and a 2nd and fourth for Hall, Stankoven, 26&28 first round picks and 26&27 third round picks.

The two firsts are top ten protected in 26&28 but unprotected in 27&29 if Dallas happens to be bad enough to pick in the top ten those two years.

however they did turn down a deal with the leafs. It was Minten, Cowan and two firsts.

While I agree, this team has not played well the past month while other teams got better. We are at best a 1 and done playoff team

Brother compared to the Panthers the Canes are a fuging dynasty.

Everything is a dynasty compared to the Panthers lmfoa.

The Canes are NOT a better team than they were in October, this is NOT a team that's making it out of the first round this season, we now have a trend of star players not wanting to be here.

Cool you have cap space and draft picks.... neither of which are things a team at our point should be stockpiling.

    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
    • There's a reason Greg Maddux was never a flamethrower but still one of the most feared pitchers of all time, because accuracy beats velocity far more often then vice versa. Once you exceed a certain minimum capability, you can thrive with extreme traits elsewhere, its not strictly about power in any sport but powerlifting.
