Is "Ladies Night" really gender discrimination?

The Minnesota Department of Human Rights has filed gender discrimination charges against five Twin Cities bars, alleging that they violated the rights of men everywhere—by holding ladies’ night. “Gender-based pricing violates the Human Rights Act,” the commissioner tells the Star-Tribune, vowing to pursue every complaint received about on the matter. The state tried a similar crackdown back in 1994, but most bars shrugged and kept the cheap drinks flowing.

“It isn’t a matter of wanting to discriminate. If you’ve got 200 ladies, you have 400 men,” says a Tavern League of Minnesota official. “This is just a marketing niche.” The previous head of the Human Rights Department said he too sees no problem with the promotion. “It is on its face discriminatory,” he said, “but on a practical level, it’s a little bit of ‘Who cares?’”

Evidently one man has complained numerous times over the last 15 years. And he is from Utah not Minnesota.

What kind of man would complain about women getting drunk before the men get in and don't have to spend any money on getting them drunk?

    • Spencer was hired as Director of College Scouting under Fitterer and has run that department ever since. I thought it was kind of a head scratcher at the time because there seemed to be better people available. Can't say I'm sorry he's gone. There have been a few changes made now, which makes sense. We might be seeing a rework of the scouting department under Morgan and Tilis.
    • I have center 1 as one of my pre-season battles to watch. Corbett is not guaranteed the job.  It's a lot more relevant than WR6 or secondary depth (I still think that we're not done here. I expect a S and CB to be added before week 1).
    • Even though Morrow ended up with 10 minutes, he basically played 4 d most of the game Walker finished with nine minutes after leaving the game 2 minutes into the second.....   Morrow played 5 minutes in the last ten minutes of the third.....   WHY WOULD YOU PLAY A GUY ONLY TO BE SO SCARED YOU LEAVE HIM ON THE BENCH EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE DOWN A RIGHT HANDED DEFENSIVE SHOT.....   WE PLAYED 4 D BASICALLY HALF THE GAME
