TBH, this is still a bottom 10 defense on paper. BUT, probably not a bottom 2 defense.

I don't think so. Maybe bottom 15, but hopefully not bottom 10. DB returning to the lineup is a major deal. Tuttle is now the back up NT instead of the starter. Wharton and Jones II are upgrades over Crumedy and Barno. Moehrig was top 10 amongst safeties for run defense.

Grab a FS plus another body or three in the draft and Evero can go back to running his disguised cover-4 looks.

I do think that we are going to possibly running thin at LB + DB tho... gonna need guys to stay healthy and the offense to take the next step.

The New Orleans Saints restructured the contracts of offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz and defensive linemen Carl Granderson and Khalen Saunders.

The Saints turned part of Saunders' base salary and roster bonus into a signing bonus and added a 2029 void year, lowering his cap number from $4.6 million to $2.5 million. Granderson's new cap number is $6.482 million (down from $11.73 million). Ruiz's new cap number is $5.8 million (down from $12.25 million). The moves opened up at least $13.5 million in space. -- Katherine Terrell, Saints reporter

Well, keep in mind our DL is basically two starting caliber players and a lot of rotational guys. Same with our LB's/EDGE guys.

Make no mistake, ON PAPER, it's squarely a bottom 10 unit. We just need to make some quality additions in the draft and perhaps we can move towards being a mediocre unit.

No one should have any illusions of a sudden top 10 unit. You don't come from as bad a unit as we had(not statistically, I mean from a pure talent standpoint) and make it into a good unit in just one offseason. It's gonna take a LOT of work.

But, the vision they are projecting is clear. Get younger. So they are operating as if they are aware this is a long term process. I don't agree with everything they have done but I am happy they are finally self aware enough to realize this isn't going to turn around quickly and we aren't 1-2 players away. That was MURDEROUS during the Rhule Reign of Terror.

If you wanted an idea of how bad our team actually was/is, precisely one of our free agents was signed yesterday.

Darnold and Mayfield making $100m each and their stats since leaving are better than Young's career so far.

Seattle fans are really going to be crapping their pants after season 1 of Darnold. I don't know if that new HC was on board with that signing but he's probably headed out the door when Darnold does in a couple of years.

Sources: Giants reached agreement today with former Dolphins free-agent safety Jevon Holland. Deal done by Kyle McCarthy and David Mulugheta.

The Giants filled a major need on Tuesday morning and did so with a really good player. NFL Media is reporting they are signing Dolphins safety Jevon Holland to a 3-year, $45M deal with $30.3 million in guarantees. Really nice move for New York.

    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
    • I don't really care about your post at all. I just saw the direction of the discussion and this snippet from an article I read earlier in the day was a good spot to put non-Panthers info. I mostly don't care about the players personal lives. That's off the field/personal poo. Not really any of my business.  I also don't know him personally so what would be the point of congratulating him outside basically attempting to draw attention to myself like so many in the social media/internet realm.
