In Raleigh, some apparel hard to come by, but...

top dawg

There seems to be a glut of Delhomme jerseys in the clearance section of some of the WalMarts. I kid you not: I have looked at the same dozen shirts in one of the local Wally Worlds for at least 6 months now, including insane $15 Jake jerseys that I wouldn't buy if they were $1. Speaking of apparel, other than general Panthers gear (which I prefer, acually), I have only seen Smitty gear, one D. Will jersey (which I snapped up for $15), and a couple of $80 Beason jerseys at Dick's. I haven't seen anybody else represented. Surely it's not like that in Charlotte. Do I have to come west to get some decently priced gear? Damn! No Stew. No Moore. Clausen...only Smitty and Jake. Perhaps with all the new guys, the new stuff hasn't hit the shelves yet.

I can get Steve Smith, The two-headed monster backs and Clausen here in Toronto, but that's irrelevant to the topic at hand. Everything else has to come online, which is probably your best bet unless you go to the Panthers team store, I'd assume they'd have everything.

Not shitting you, my wife calls me a few weeks ago and said "Hey, I'm in Marshall's and they have a Panthers jersey for $19. Do you want it?" So I say, whose is it? She said "number 80 - Somebody Jarrett."

Guy's poo is already on the clearance rack.

Damn! I'm more amazed with the fact that your wife was actually looking through men's clothes on the clearance rack, and even more that she even called you about a football jersey. How thoughtful. What a lucky dude! Hell, I'm jealous. LOL

I think this is because the day before, I told her "huh, all three jerseys I have hanging in the closet are now defunct - Peppers, Delhomme, and Ray Felton (Bobcats).

Don't laugh - that's what I have. But she takes good care of me, yes. LOL

There are going to be thousands of Delhomme and Peppers jerseys sitting around in sports apparel stores for the next decade probably.

I actually saw a couple David Carr jerseys on a clearance rack last week.

Carr? I would have thought all of those would be on some unfortunate soul's back in Africa or something. I know that the NFL sends the apparel for the loser of the Super Bowl to a relief organization (not that Carr has made it to the Super Bowl, but I'm just saying). Can't you see a vision of some poor guy in Africa with a David Carr jersey on looking like a deer caught in headlights as he's being rushed by a herd of wildebeests? Even worse, someone actually wearing a Rae Carruth jersey...

The Panthers have a whole rack of authentic Delhomme and Peppers jerseys on "sale" for $129 at TC... LOL

When I went to the Panthers team store to buy my authentic Beason jersey this year I was surprised to learn they only stock authentic jerseys for 4 guys at any one time and right now those guys are: Delhomme, Peppers, Smith and Williams. The guy told me they were trying to clear out more of the Delhomme and Peppers stock before they added other people, but at $129 I don't see that happening anytime soon.

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
