Peppers impressing in bears camp

Um, Top DE might be a stretch when you had Jason Taylor and Strahan and now Mario williams Jared Allen, Tuck, Freeney

Reed is a lock for thr HoF. Peppers not so much

I was totally talking about projections. Peppers was a prototype 4-3 DE, Much like Mario Williams, who went 1st overall.

I love Ed Reed as a player, and if it were up to me, and we could look back and see the production, he would have been on my radar. But we cannot.

Once again, if I am drafting for the team, a prototype DE will go off my board 9 times out of 10 over a S.

i do not believe it was necessary for richardson to do that. not all players are born to be vocal leaders, but rather lead by example. it is not imperative for a DE to the vocal leader of you defense like it is for a QB is on offense. i do not think it is fair to crucify him for that, it is not the kind of person he is.

now in chicago he has people like urlacher and tommie and chris harris to take that pressure off him. he was not born in chicago and play football his whole life in chicago, so the expectations for him to be a vocal leader will not be as important. he will go out there and lead by example and will bet my forum rights to post on this board that it will be his best year ever.

People around here are just butt hurt that he left. Beleive me they know Peppers was the best defensive player in panther history.

Peppers is going to dominate with the Bears this year. I believe he's going to put up career numbers. Glad to hear he's doing well with the Bears; as he is still my favorite player in the league. I just hope when he comes to Carolina, he takes it easy on us, but I fear he's going to go off against us. Gross is going to get destroyed lol, but hopefully we still come away with the W. I still bleed Panther football, but I'll be watching a good amount of Bears games to keep up with Pep. There's going to be a lot of Peppers jerseys being worn when he comes back down here lol

Peppers a team captain.... lol

Pepp has always looked good in camp. He looks good just until a bit of adversity hits him.

Word. Against good offense team, Pep struggle. He doesn't have the heart anymore either.

uh, any DE can have a great camp against the bears O-line.

Yep, especially when the QB is Jay Cutler!! ;)

I still think his inconsistent effort and result will resurface during the season.

Peppers had the ability to dominate....when he wanted to. It just seemed like he seldom wanted to.

Funny how the scouts were right. They saw the same thing in college. A puppy with brown spots becomes a dog with brown spots. That being said, I bet he has 20 sacks this year.

F*ck him. Let him get 200 sacks in the next 2 years, I won't give a poo. It'll just show what a POS he is for sandbagging it while he was here pouting in his own imagined misery. And if he ends up a HOF'er, let him go in as a Bear and make no mention of the Panthers, I don't want us to be associated with him.

    • Um, no, just no. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Eagles, Commanders are 8 teams that it's not even a debate, they aren't trading their QB for Purdy. Patriots, Broncos, Titans, Giants, Bears, Vikings, Falcons are 7 more teams with QBs drafted in the last 2 years that also would rather stick with them than trade for Purdy as they all have more upside than he does. Lions, Packers, Cowboys, Bucs are 4 more that would likely keep their QB's as well, age aside for Goff, Dak, and Baker. Panthers and Colts are two teams in the same situation, QB's who have both struggled and shown flashes to where the teams probably stick with them because they drafted them, but in a re-draft of all QB's, they probably take Purdy over the guy they currently have. Jags, Cardinals, Dolphins, are 3 more with QB's who probably have a higher upside than Purdy but come with their own question marks, so debatable if they'd take Purdy over who they already have. That leaves Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Saints, Seahawks, and Rams. Rams would take him over Stafford for the future of course, but not for 2025, and I'd think the Seahawks would take him over Darnold, but honestly not sure if they would take him over Milroe at this moment as they really like his potential and have him for 4 years really cheap. That leaves 5 teams that I see who would absolutely take him over their current situation right now, and a handful of others who MIGHT take him over their current guy, a far cry from your 20.
    • Agreed. Also as soon as they received the top pick in the next draft it was over. Bears won that trade. Gave up a top overall pick got one the next year plus pick 9, a couple 2nds, and DJ Moore a proven young WR. Had their 2024 pick from us be in the late teens or later it would be more debatable IMO.
    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
