Charlotte Media Wants Clausen To Fail

I don't understand what all the commotion is. Clausen may have upside, he may have an arm, mobility, etc. He could be a great QB. But he's been in the NFL for just over 3 months while Matt Moore has been here for 3 years. That is the only reason he is starting this season. No one is hating on Clausen. If Clausen earns his job, no one will be complaining because we'll get great QB play from him. If he doesn't earn a starting job, its because Moore is playing well. In both scenarios we have something we didn't have the first 11 games last year and in the playoff game in 2008. The only other scenario that could happen is that both Moore and Clausen don't pan out as viable QBs, in which case we were both wrong.

he will more then likely start, but not this year and maybe not next year, post up some factual evidence that the qb's drafted in the second round started their rookie year

I wasn't saying he would definitely start his rookie year but when somebody said he was more likely to ride the pine for his career rather than start, I wanted to do research. If you can't look it up yourself, I will do it later once I get off off work at 6 tonight. I would do it now but it is a pain to do it all from my phone. Typing this took long enough on it.

what you people talkin about? Don't you know clausen is gonna be one of many backup qb's behind moore for the next 15 yrs. Clausen will eventually move on to a team that fox goes to cause fox likes his potential but sees he'll never get a chance as long as moore is on the roster, cause moore is just that damn good. And years down the line nfl films will have a round table discussion with all the backup qb's that sat behind moore...yeah..and clausen will be there too...yeah

I am so sick of the media openly rooting for an undrafted, no-name quarterback instead of the highly-touted, "face of the franchise" second-round draft pick that they are always writing about.

It's pretty simple. The national media sees the value in a second round pick with Clausen's credentials relative to the all around BAD passing game of the Panthers. Moore definitely won some games but he still hasn't shaken that game manager stigma.

So forgive the national media and some of us fans for being excited about the Panther's top draft pick.

I don't believe the Charlotte media wants Clausen to fail, just some of the fans that believed all the negative press that was written about him.

But I do think that people here have a bias to Moore and should be a little more open minded. I've cited many examples of how when Clausen makes a mistake it's his fault but when Moore makes a mistake it's credited to a good defense. Moore's production was terrible in the scrimmage and it was completely dismissed. Head and shoulders above Clausen is not 4-9 for 26 yards. It is way too early to tell if he is head and shoulders above.

If Clausen starts any games this year, one of 2 things happened. We either locked up the division early and are playing the backups (highly unlikely) or we are in a world of hurt, Moore is injured or totally ineffective and Cantwell isn't playing well either. In any event if Clausen is playing we are likely on a losing streak and out of the playoffs.

The best thing for any Panther fan is for Moore to do well and for Clausen to hold the clipboard all year. Anyone who can't see that and only wants Clausen to play are fans of a player not fans of the Panthers.
