ITs going to be Brady Quinn Derek Anderson all over again....big mistake not only drafting this guy, but bigger mistake not trading him by now. Laugh at me now....

Okay

Reminds me of that huge mistake the Packers made by drafting, and then not trading, Aaron Rodgers.

Oh wait... :sosp:

Hanging on to a quality rookie and giving him time to develop is rarely a mistake. You might not have heard, but these things called "injuries" have been known to happen in the NFL. Likewise having viable backup options when your starter - although tested - is still unproven, can hardly be called a "bigger mistake".

Zod how can I remove someone's thread starting abilities?

Ever notice that a lot of the dumber statements made here happen because somebody always wants to be "the first to say it" :nonod:

I can see it happening with Moore/Clausen. Clausen was considered a top 10 talent, some claimed the best qb of the '09 draft, but dropped due to attitude problems. Moore was undrafted. The people that put where a player was drafted above everything else may get antsy.

Only Fox/Richardson can control whether it turns into a true Quinn/Anderson type situation though. I don't see them switching qbs on a regular basis. If Moore continues to show potential... the job is his. If fan opinion mattered they wouldn't have left Delhomme out there for 11 games last season. They would have saved him from himself.

I can agree with this

Fwiw, the OP is probably right regarding the complaints. If Moore has a bad game in preseason, the Moore sucks, start Clausen comments will begin.

That being said, drafting Clausen was probably the correct move. If Moore works out and we resign him for a few years, then great. We can trade Clausen for another pick, or have him on the bench for insurance. If Moore doesn't work out, then we have a couple of options.

I'd never underestimate the tendency for fans to complain (whether it's warranted or not).

Shouldn't it be start Cantwell since Jimmy is only 3rd string?

Zod, I gotta be honest, these "cute" little remarks your making about Jimmy being only 3rd string, are getting, well, tiresome.

You know as well as anyone else here Clausen is gonna be 2nd on the depth chart before long.

Not trying to cook your goose, just saying.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
