Jimmy Clausen

I am probably one of, if not the biggest Clausen supporter on this board. I have seen every single preseason, regular season, and postseason snap he has taken over the past four years and we all need to calm down a little bit. Look up Moore's first preseason game from his rookie year and its better then Clausen. What we need to remember is that Clausen is typically going to be better than most teams second string and there was no gameplan for them to follow. It was just a glorified scrimmage in bad weather.

Let's give it a couple of more weeks.

One thing I read about Clausen after the Panthers drafted him talked about his perfect mechanics and throwing motion. I didn't analyze every throw he made last night, but on several of them, he seemed to have a very low release point with almost a sidearm delivery.

I'll just say this.It felt like a preseason game when the starters were in, then when Clausen came out, I was much more excited and into the game. When Cantwell came in, I fell asleep.

Plenty of Chargers fans felt the same way. :)

Last time I checked, Philip Rivers was a pretty damn good QB. In fact, stat wise, he personally outpaced Brees last year in many categories.

The only reason River's doesn't have a ring is the Chargers don't have a Defensive Coordinator that coaches his team to push the limits of fair play, and they have an idiot for a head coach that can't manage the clock.

Clausen impressed, yes. I was just very glad he's a Panther because it gave Jaws & Gruden something to talk about that involves the Panthers. Otherwise the talk would've been all about the Ravens, you know it. :D

Oh, and, the Chargers haven't won a SB because the owners are dumb. Period.

Jimmy's Presence, line calls, and audibles were spot on....I realized I have rarely seen this poise and quick decision making in any Panther QB other than Stevie B.... Lets see it again!!

He exceeds Matt Moore in the quick delivery-decision check down so far.

I still am banking for this to be Jimmy's learning year as we just will let Matt Moore go in free agency next season...not what I want but what I do unfortunately feel will happen.

It seems unless Matt Moore gets this team to a solid playoff run that he will be packaged with Fox as the castoffs....even with a fairly good season for Moore. i do hope i am wrong on this but I have become Cynical about the addition and retention of talent on this team.

That attitude and confidence will only help him see the field earlier than expected this year my humble opinion Brady lite with his swagger on the field...Will continue to echo everyones statements on here and who I watched the game with can't teach that "it" factor he has did not look like a rookie in his first game, on ESPN and in the rain no overreacting just being honest. Hell wasn't the best showing from our team overall but it's nice to point out some positives as well when it's well deserved. I can't wait for next Thursday...

Yep! I can see this happening too.

If this year isn't a good year for Moore (not necesarily playoffs, just playing well) I expect that Jimmy will have completely equal footing with Moore the next off-season, and if he plays better during the off-season, I expect him to win the position.

But Moore will play well enough this season that he will be the starter for another year.

I hope so....If Moore has a good year we should be okay. I think this pre-season is one of the most interesting ones we have gone through. Go figure that the Panthers will have two Qb's to debate about when we usually have none.

Rivers is a good QB, no doubt about it. But the Charger let the better QB go, and I think the only reason they did so was that Rivers got more press coming out of college.

Fwiw, I though Clausen looked pretty good last night, so I am certainly not criticising him or the panthers front office. I am just thinking about Karma. :)

What I see in Jimmy Clausen is what I saw in rookie Donovan McNabb. Quick-out low-throw ball with velocity thrown to the correct spot. Dancing feet, good pocket awareness, good decisions, command of the field, great reads. Positive yards. Very, very smart. McNabb improved and so will Clausen. He'll be as good as McNabb if not better. I'm happy with all this.
