Clausen back at practice

Jimmy Clausen returned to practice Tuesday and said the toe problem that bothered him through his senior year at Notre Dame continuted to be an issue.

Clausen had surgery in January to repair two torn ligaments in his right big toe and said Tuesday, "I still don't feel 100 percent."

Clausen said doctors told him he may not get there until after the season.

Left tackle Jordan Gross and strong safety Sherrod Martin return to practice Tuesday, while cornerbacks Richard Marshall (knee), C.J. Wilson (head) and Captain Munnerlyn (calf) were all held out of practice.

When's Otah supposed to be back?

Otah was walking around with a big bag of ice taped to his leg. There was some obvious swelling. Not much of a limp just slow moving. Stood next to Gross yesterday and he was wearing a brace on his ankle and the bruising was out of the top of it. Half way up his calf. Not a bad limp though. Just looked like hell. He worked out with Brayton, Munnerlyn, Davis and Otah. Push ups, ropes, just strength stuff. Davis actually ran several laps around the facility, looked good.

I love it how our pro bowl LT being back at practice is a footnote in the backup QB is back at practice article.

If you owned the newspaper and were paid on subscriptions and advertising, could you blame them?
