Jon Beason: Most Indispensable Player?

We've seen what our team looks like without smitty. Both when he broke his leg (or was it ankle) against green bay, and when Seattle quadruple covered him, essentially taking him out of the game. It's ugly. A case can certainly be made for both of those guys though.

True, but we had Moose did we not? Moose was better than anyone else we have now.

beason on defense, smitty on offense.

we lose either one of these and we are going to be monumentally hurting.

i would also throw kalil in there as well. hard to say that we wouldn't be struggling without him in there. who is going to back him up? can't say i like any of the possibilities.

This

Most Indispensable players:

1 Smith

2 Beason

3 Kalil

Teams put 8 guys in the box even with Smith in the lineup. Without Smith it would be constant blitzing and 9 guys in the box, it would probably get ugly.

I disagree. Without Smitty we have no passing game. We can survive without Beason. Connor can learn to play call, and the back-ups will fill in. We'll SUCK, mind you, but our running game needs Smitty out there to keep team's from stacking the box all the time.

We didn't have a passing game last year and we seemed to do ok.

with what ron meeks has been able to do with carolina's defense despite all the injuries since his arrival, i have no doubt that the defense would overcome a beason hiatus.

on the other hand, i can remember steve smith's 2008 suspension being an automatic 0-2 start for the panthers...

...look how that turned out.

at this point, i vote kalil for being the most indespensible player

That is something some people seem to be missing about this preseason so far. Two of the best defenses already did that, and I'm sure Tennessee will try and do it too. Another week and we need another receiver to step up and take some respect. :(
