Facing constant pressure from all angles, the Panthers have yet to score an offensive touchdown and have allowed 11 sacks entering Saturday's third preseason game against Tennessee at Bank of America Stadium.

``It seems like more of the defense is installed for the teams when we're playing them,'' Gross said Friday. ``It's almost like a real game as far as the packages that are getting thrown at us. It's definitely tough.''

Blitzing has become a much more prevalent and part of everyday schemes, so they need to practice them in exhibition games.

That's what I've been saying. They're not rookies. :smash:

This is sad:

Panthers reserve DE Hilee Taylor was to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery, Fox said after Friday's practice. Taylor entered camp facing difficult odds to make the 53-man roster.
We rode the shuttle from CMC last week with his parents & brother. Wonderful people. Hope he convalesces well and quickly. :cheers2:

the first thing they should be practicing is protecting against the blitz, but it always seems like the last thing on the coaches mind..

in Fox's defense though, that is a lot of pointless time putting his defense in a 3-4 scheme to let the OL/offense prepare. He is trying to form both his offense and defense.

THe excuse during the regular season? Let's see... our STARTING RBs know the offense and how to pick up blitzes, the O actually game-planned against the blitz packages. Considering Rex Ryan and co. were sending 8 on third and long and our 5th string RB wiffed on his block to protect the QB. We were one dimensional, working on the pass in the first two games. Come on. Show some football common sense. Yes, there will be sacks in the regular season, but if you send 8 and we pick them up, you lose 6 points. He was showing off for HBO.

I guess its a bad year to be shuffling lineman all game. We did learn one thing though. Duke Robinson cant pass block to save his life. I know the Jets are going to pay for showing so many of there blitzes this preseason. Prob other teams as well, the less is more approach is always best in preseason.

I guess its a bad year to be shuffling lineman all game. We did learn one thing though. Duke Robinson cant pass block to save his life. I know the Jets are going to pay for showing so many of there blitzes this preseason. Prob other teams as well, the less is more approach is always best in preseason.

Fox likes to employ this strategy until about game 12.

      To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .

      The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown.
