Judgments on the coaching staff

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

I've been on the Davidson bandwagon since the hiring. Loved the thought of a O-lineman calling the plays.

Got one question still ringing around this noggin of mine...why did we abandon the running game so quickly last Saturday? A big ole lineman should want to run and run some more and then run it again after that, so what happened?

Jury is out for me on Jeff, so call my undecided.

EDIT: OK he did good during the regular season so I'll give him a break - UP

Tim Lewis - Down

Danny Crossman - Always been DOWN for me

Mike Trgovac - Down

I don't think you can fault the special teams coach very much. Yeah the blocked punts were ridiculous but at least he showed that (GASP) he can make adjustments, because the situation improved dramatically as the season went on. Also, our return game was infinitely better than last year. This is partially because Mark Jones is awesome, but I'm sure Crossman has something to do with it too.

    • Apparently CSW lost his starting job to Thornton last year. If he can stay healthy I bet Thornton keeps that NB position.
    • I member him staying after practices with only to see he was wearing heavy weight vest, one of his trademarks. He also put in 10 years, right? People forget he was the ST stud that called the snap and made sure everyone lined up right. He was one of the "glue" guys that bought his "lunch pail" to work.... He was a willing solider, all teams need a couple of them. He blocked for sooo many panthers RBs- Davis, lane, Williams, foster, goings and when there was huge injuries he took over the starter duties and had a couple 100 yard games. If you followed hoover, he took the perfect RB path cause he was just a slow heavy one himself....
    • Walker likely depends on a couple of things. What exactly did Dan promise him, to start with.  How much other interest he actually had for a starter job at high pay is another question. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility that he could stay on as a swing tackle waiting to take Moton’s spot when it opens.    I can’t get myself to consider Icky as a viable anything until we see him back on the field.     Hunt seems to be a team player and good guy but I don’t think he is worth what he is being paid. I have him tentatively earmarked for cap causality in the near future.
