IT field is tough right now, unless you are up for contract work. Almost no one is doing direct hires right now. Of course, those companies are throwing a ton of money out the window paying tech staffing companies.

Yeah, they may just be switching out your equipment. Have you done anything to warrant a firing? Then why the stress?

Not that I know of, and I was told it would be for a while that I was working from the office. Its just the way my supervisor answered the questions...

I remember a mass firing one day, at my first job out of college. Everyone was in the office that day. One by one, people started coming out of various meetings with their pink slips. It was a trip. I think they fired 20 people that day, probably less than 100 in the office.

Of course, i was safe as i was only making $18k a year. lol

I can relate saint. When i was at Wachovia I was doing this project on another floor but still part of my regular team upstairs. I guess they either wanted to keep me away from the others or take advantage of my ideas.

So I get an email with like 80 other people to come upstairs muy pronto. I go up and this mgr has people gathered around. He goes and I quote "if you can hear my voice, you still have a job". We were stunned. A girl who I sat across the aisle from me and I were talking that morning. I go back to my desk and ALL her junk is gone. Man.

Saturday is the next day I work, I flat out asked though and told my boss if that was the case that I'd just drop everything off today and say screw going in on Saturday...He said I wasn't so....
