I hope you guys don't get too attached to Clausen this season

A new coach coming in is not going to waste a high first round draft pick on a QB when he already has Clausen already on the roster. He will be smart enough to realize a team with Clausen and another position player picked high in the 1st round is better than a team with a high 1st round picked QB and Clausen. Plus Hurney is not going anywhere and he picked Clausen for a reason.

we have to get on the same page with this stuff.. I need a link..

last I heard he said he wasn't ever going to renew his contract because he will work for the Panthers as long as JR keeps him..

I heard that too.but that does not make sense to me.

It he wants to stay then why not sign the contract?

IDK...contract or not I think Hurney stays

I think a better topic would be:

If Fox is gone at the end of the season, will the organization hire a new coach and Clausen will have to adjust to the new system OR will the organization see Clausen as the franshise QB and hire a coach who will compliment Clausen's talents.

If it's the latter than I think that Weis does shoot to the top of the list, however so does Davidson.

Marty Hurney's contract expired June 30th. He was either extended or signed a new one, it was said the last contract he signed wasn't made public until months after he had signed it.

Jim Zorn will never have a head coaching job in the nfl again, to assume he would with the panthers is just absurd.

I would also like to state Mr. Richardson probably pulled a few strings to get JC as well... just saying 48 is a VERY VERY long way for a player that COULD be the best QB in the draft so I doubt Richardson lets any new coach touch his new toy.

what kind of strings could he have possibly pulled.Hurney was looking to trade up to the top of the 2nd to get him.

I'm puzzled by the backlash this thread has received. Seriously. A lot of times I get where the hate and backlash comes from when I post stuff, but this thread? I don't get it. Are you guys saying that new coaches do NOT often want to bring in a quarterback that they had their fingerprints on or are you guys just burying your heads in the sand and pretending that if you hate on this possible future enough then it will just go away?

    • Why are Vikings fans acting like we peed in their cereal?
    • I’m actually fine with our TE group. I would like to see us upgrade at ILB, maybe safety and CB.   I think we are good at WR. I thought Corley could have been a good player but I guess he wasn’t doing good at all.   I came across this article about Corley from today. I know sometimes a change of scenery can really help turn around a player and we’ve seen plenty of players from the jets end up being good other places. I just don’t know if Corley is that guy.   https://www.newsweek.com/sports/nfl/jets-insider-shares-embarrassing-fact-about-malachi-corleys-release-2119816
    • I was really rooting for him after seeing that video about his struggles. I always thought he was a solid and underrated player.   I thought for sure he would have made the team after hearing all the hype and how he made that overthrown catch by Plummer behind the line and still was able to gain a yard or two off it. Plummer really overthrew him each time yet he was able to still not lose yards. I think he still could play in the nfl. I think he may need a few months to get into top form though. Hopefully he will get signed to another team.
