Want a real nightmare?

Mr. Scot

The thing that gets me with this situation (the similarities between the QB's in Carolina and Cleveland and the coaches) is that most people would intentionally stray away from letting this happen.

so you would intentionally not pick a sure-fire first round pick at QB, at 45, knowing you need a QB badly and knowing this is great value and a guy who fits your O, because he went to school where a different player on a different team went to school that had associations with things you had nothing to do with?

You may be right. If that were the case, however, I would have to think that Fox and Hurney's draft might have gone a bit differently. They obviously were trying to find their quarterback of the future in Clausen and to a lesser degree Pike. They tried to find some receivers, which is obviously an immediate need, but one of the receivers they drafted (Edwards) is clearly a project that will probably not see much time this year.

You could say that maybe some of these decisions came from the top down, and you might be right again. But if that's the case, I could easily see Richardson telling Fox and Hurney that he wants Clausen to start the rest of the season regardless of how he plays.

Richardson's clearly prepping this team for the future. I don't think he cares if Fox or Hurney leave here after a less-than-desirable season.

I do think that Richardson through Morrison is pulling the strings. But I think that the draft was done because neither Fox or Hurney wanted to be left with no one if Moore got hurt or struggled. The draft went as expected.

The cutting of the veterans and lack of free agent signings were a function of Richardson putting them on an austerity budget. Hurney's job was to do the best he could with what little he was going to be given. Fox was told to win as many games as possible with the guys they picked up.

I suspect that Fox took this as a challenge and part of the resume for the future. he figured he would get a bunch of new and inexperienced players no matter where he went. If he could turn this group into a winner, he could write his own ticket anywhere.

As for Richardson saying start Clausen no matter what, you might be right. If Clausen struggles and still plays we will know that you are right. If Moore goes back in then we will know Fox is calling the football shots.

Hopefully Clausen plays well and we play him because he deserves it.

This is why women shouldn't make sporting bets. I would have told him that he had to tell people he really was a fan of the buccaneers now, and really did love the notebook.

It doesn't carry as much weight if he can just go around telling people that he lost a bet.

The cosmetic changes to my profile are not the entire bet. That's only the portion of it that you see on here.

The other provision is that I have to have my picture taken in the personalized Bucs jersey (with her first name on the back) that I got her for her birthday last year. She will have the right to show this picture to any and all of my family and friends and display it in whatever way she wishes.

At the moment, I'm awaiting clarification regarding when and where this pic is to be taken, and also whether or not I will be wearing pants :(

(I agreed to "wearing my jersey" but didn't hash out any specifics, leaving them to her discretion)

Never knew you were such a sadist Scot... you sure this lady likes you?? That's just cruel and unusual punishment to have to wear her jersey and take pics.

Technically, I'd be a masochist. But no, I'm not.

I just let myself get a little too confident about the Panthers chances on Sunday :(
