At this point last year, I was paying much more attention to the rest of the league because I had resigned myself to the Panthers being, shall we say, sub-par.

This year, the Panthers are still very much a sub-par team. But the difference is that I'm still glued to the team because the future of the franchise is on the field. A few players from last years draft are starting to come into their own, and the rookies this year are showing a lot of growth from April to September. As a result, I have a lot of optomism for the days ahead.

No, I don't think the Panthers are making a playoff run this year. In fact, I'm pretty sure when all is said and done we'll be fourth in the NFCS. But I have hope now, and that's more than I can say for last year's 0-3 start. Once these kids shake off the rookie woes, we'll be a threat, and you can mark my words on that.

Can't wait to see what happens next week.

P.S. - Jerry should really rethink his stance on a work stoppage next year. With a team this young, losing a year of playing time will cripple us for a decade.

Clausen will get better. we showed potential to move the ball. lots of turnovers did us in. Take away the turnovers, and we win no doubt. its discipline. But over course we get alot of we are the worst team ever, and all of the other BS, bc thats just how some people are. they can't find anything positive. and then mock you because you have optimism. I'm not going to go there. I refuse to

yeah, i'm the same way. i've given up hope that this season will have many wins but i do think that there is a lot of young potential on this team. once we get a coaching staff that is competent and in it for the long haul we should be pretty good. not crazy about the receivers, though. that is the one thing i feel the worst about.

hopefully the next coach will want to take advantage of FA and get some receiving talent in here.

You're still worried about winning?

Oh honey, no, sit down.

yeah, anyone expecting wins any time soon should really seek help. it's not about the wins this year. it's about this young team building something together. i expect there to be a lot of rough spots and mistakes. there's going to be a lot of metal errors. seeing it from what few vets we have on the team is unfortunate but thats ok

next year foxy will be gone, we'll have an early first rounder and lots of cash and an owner that usually likes to spend all his money and will once the CBA gets straight.

I agree with you.. and for the love of god, I hope we get a competent coaching staff...

it's really pathetic to watch the offensive playcalling...

    • You know, there's something about this whole JAG thing that really just drives home the idea that to some folks, these players aren't real people, just names and stats.  Of course, it goes beyond sports. We're a sad, jaded species, us humans.
    • I hope we get no featured games, or only one if that's still a thing Don't like having to subscribe to a service just to see the panthers play a single game, i'm looking at you peacock Football is made for sunday afternoons Word
    • Yeah, it's just dumb. Everything is year to year. I never understood how anyone could stay engaged as a Kentucky fan or duke fan as duke became a one and done factory like Calipari made Kentucky. The thing I liked at about UNC is that we primarily focused on recruits likely to play multiple years. We'd have pur occasional one and done but most of our pros still played multiple years. And the days of the Stackhouses, Wallace, Jamison, Carter, etc. playing multiple years is just over. And now you have your role players entering the portal every year to test the waters elsewhere. I don't blame them for looking out for themselves but just personally speaking I'll run out of interest quickly trying to get to know a whole new roster year over year.
