Williams Trade Story (The Actual Source)

Eh. Dwill is one of my favorite players. I'd hate to see him traded.

If the FO really doesn't have any intention on giving him a huge extension next season, then I can see them trading him while they can, so they at least get something for him. Preferably not for a WR though if we do trade him. We already have question marks at WR, no need for another one.

Yes. We should totally trade DeAngelo Williams. He is getting really old. He is 27 years of age. Chris Johnson is 25 years old. They should be looking for a replacement for him too. DeAngelo has 797 carries in his career. Chris Johnson has 684 carries in his career.

Both of these dinosaurs are part of the old guard of the NFL and should make way for the up and coming players in the league. They have held on way too long and need to be retired. DeAngelo, in particular, is keeping a player in Johnathan Stewart who is a comfortable 23 years of age from taking over the reigns. DeAngelo is selfish for doing that considering Johnathan Stewart is so healthy and ready to play every week that he can probably count on one hand how many in season practices he has laced up for.

Yes. Pull the trigger, Fox and Hurney. Clean house.

Man you don't know what you are talking about panthers wouldn't take a 3 for williams or stwart I told you yesturday that if the panthers where to trade a star it would be williams not smith and I guess you went with that huh. If there would to get rid of william it would have to be a awsome WR and a 3rd or a 1st and a somewhat awsome WR. Now don't get me wrong that might trade william for jackson with the eagle straight out but not a WR with GB and I heard that william alright signed a new contract so this one year stuff I don't know what you are talking about. Now Goodson they may take a 1st on but I don't think they would trade goodson for a 3rd and halfway WR like GB have. GB have alot of halfway WR and a good QB that spraid the ball around so if you going to make up a lie make up a good one like williams for jackson now I could believe that one.

The 49ers we will beat and who know if clausen plays like he did in the 2nd half and no mistakes by the others. I really believe that we will see a different time this week. Clausen should have started much earlier because I feel that john new moore wasn't all that because he wanted so long to take jake out last year. They only problem I see now is the next two team are better then the team we already faced and if we don't win people may not understand that we got better.

I'd like to know who we beat to become 1-5 after losing the next two.

I showed up super late to the party I'm about to past out reading the thread title

some one just answer me is this true or not.

Probably not true. Then again, lately none of us really know what is going on in the heads of some of the people in charge of the Panthers.

Broski, this isn't Madden. Goodson for a 1st? What dream world do you live in man? We'd be lucky to get a 4th or 5th for a third string running back. The Eagles trading DeShaun Jackson? Wow, if I smoked I'd be looking you up.

I think there will be a lot of hurt feelings in this fan base when a deal like this happens....and I do believe soemthing will happen.

1. With a stable of Williams, Stewart, Goodson, and Sutton....we "could" afford to lose one of the top 2 backs and still have a great set of RB's.

2. Stewart and Williams are considered top RB's in the league and both with want a big payday upon contract negotiation.

3. Williams is pushing 30...the point where RB's really fall off. And don't give me that he shared RB duties crap. He was run hard at Memphis and the fall off has more to do with age and losing a step, rather than workload.

4. With the other needs on this team, it will be very difficult to build a top franchise across the board while investing top tier money for two players in the same position.

5. It has been proven over and over and over that solid RB's can be found in every draft.

I do think this is Williams' last season here. If we can get a solid player and pick for him, I say go for it.

Williams just turned 27 prior to the start of the season. Where is this "pushing 30", business coming from? After this year, he still has three seasons he will play either before or at the age of 30 exactly. And conventional wisdom may say that HBs hit a bit of a decline at 30, but not all of them fall off the face of the earth. Especially backs as dynamic as Williams. A lot of backs run well into 32-33 years old before really hitting the point of no return and it's usually backs that have gotten a bulk load of carries. Regardless if you want to believe it or not, mileage on the knees for runners is like mileage on a car. The more carries, the more punishment taken. DeAngelo has been somewhat sheltered from that kind of damage.

Thomas Jones, at 32 years old, is running as well as he ever has and it's because of starting his career so poorly and not getting a ton of carries early on.

Either way, it's nonsensical to think that Williams has lost a step based on the sample size of these games. It has everything to do with a non existent passing game and the absolute garbage pile that is our offensive line right now. Otah and Vincent were bigger losses than we initially thought. That was the road grading side of the line we ran behind. Williams is hitting the hole as hard as ever. He's just not getting a ton of carries because we can't keep the ball and we can't keep defenses honest with the threat of the playaction.

Why trade your best player? If the organization does this then they are truly the dumbest organization on the planet. Trade Stewart for a WR and get it over with. I am sick of talking about trading one of only 2 guys on the team that ever does anything with the ball in his hands on a consistent basis. Stewart is not in Deangelo's league as far as ability IMO.

Let's also consider that if we trade him for picks and the highest pick we receive is a 3rd rounder we will essentially be trading away a top 3 running back for Armanti Edwards, Brandon LaFell or Mike Goodson. Those are the last 3 picks the Panthers have made in the 3rd round. It would be wise for them to not make a deal for picks unless those picks were first round picks.

I just want to start off by saying you guys and gals seem to have a decent site here, I have been doing alot of reading. But I also see you have people here like on most boards that think your players are the best thing since slice bread. I'm trying to figure out where people are coming up with D Williams is a top 3 back. As we usually do on the Packershome board, I say show me the stats to prove this.

It's just not you guys it happens everywhere, hell you should see people on the board I goto saying we shouldn't trade that much for a part time player because they think Jones will be the replacement for Driver when he finally does retire.

I also saw some guy that must smoke alot as a few posters stated to him state that the Packers don't have any good wrs even though they both have been to the Pro Bowl.

Once again thanks for letting me on the board.
