Fwiw, the Clowney move is not that bad. He does have some speed, and we didn't give up anything to get him.

What if we had signed Moss, had to give up a draft pick to get him, he turns the team around and we end up finishing 8-8 or 9-7 and barely miss the playoffs. And then he leaves after this year because his contract expires? Would we really gain anything?

Damn.....it must be sad going though life being as pessimistic as most of you. We could have signed Randy Moss and some of the doom and gloomers on here would still be spouting the same old poo.

Keep 21 of 22 starters.....you bitch.

Fox stays with vets past their prime....you bitch.

The FO goes young and fast with an eye on the future....you bitch.

FO signs a WR....you bitch.

The common denominator.......you bitch.

This^^^ im wondering why we are mad or bithcing about this we all know we are not getting a premier player we hade to get someone with out the drunken monkey.

So in other words, except for being completely different, he is the same? :co:

good point

To be fair we missed the playoffs with those 21 of 22 starters mentality and we almost assuredly aren't making them this year in the "Youth movement". We haven't won a playoff game in half a decade game. So there's reason to bitch. Admit it this FO is not that good.

NO ONE knows THE FUTURE most people after that year would say it is a good idea to return 21 of 22 starters based on the year priors success. That didnt work now they want to go young not a bad idea we just need to blend in some experience.

This team has made so many dumb moves and is in shambles.

The clowney move is a joke

How bad does it have to get before we can bitch?

What makes this move a joke I understand the disgruntle feeling about the overall moves but what makes this a joke. He can stretch the opposite field from steve smith how many times have we ever said this. If he is singled covered im pretty sure his speed on go routes can get him open deep which should add an element to this weak recieving core. Even if we dont throw it to him like that in football you must respect speed right???? That changes offenses for example N.O. they run devry henderson deep often they dont always throw it to him but he runs deep if open the great qb gets him the ball im not saying we are in comparison to them but its about strecthing defenses, especially out of the box making them respect our ability to go down the field which can open up our running game. Just MY OPTIMISTIC VIEW:cool:

Clowney is an NFL caliber reciever? The Jets sure as hell didn't think so.

They sure didnt think Danny Woodhead was NFL caliber playmaker either hey the Jets know everything Please they are loaded with vets all over they have little room for anyone else

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit?

I never said he was.

I said (paraphrased) "Surpassing Jarrett's production should be easy for a NFL caliber receiver."

I did not say anything about Clowney other than that I don't care unless he can surpass Jarrett's production.

I expected at least one "Clowney vs Clown" joke. Surprised no one went that route.

No, worse stats! He's Jarretts "mini-me"....noooooo!!!! When a guy is out of work in the NFL for 4 weeks, that should give you an indication about either his ability or attitude. We got rid of a "clown" and got..."Clowney"?

Sorry you missed it, MrScot!

(Yes I'm aware now he wasn't out of work, before someone corrects me.)

    • Kind of where I'm at on this also. I think he has the potential to be an all pro caliber guard if he can come back 100%. He's more mauler than quick. Hunt is making 20m per, Moton is making 22m. Moton is a better RT than Icky is a LT so I think the pay comp would probably be about the same there. I don't see Icky as a 28m per season LT. He'll be low 20s and as an elite guard, i think he'd be within a couple mill of that.
    • I read that Pittsburgh is a possibility.  I think of college QB studs who had some form of mental quirk yet tons of talent--but their issue made being a team leader difficult and it led to their demise--going back:  Jamarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Jeff George, etc. I think people forget that the QB must not only have talent, but they must lead.
    • I wish I knew more details, but the NIL money to 20-year olds combined with easy access to gambling sites is a side effect that these kids may not have considered.  To your point,A famous 2009 Sports Illustrated article titled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” estimated that 78% of retired NFL players go bankrupt or face significant financial stress within two years of leaving the league.  I am guessing that ego and $$$ and the thrill of competition (most pro athletes love competition because they are the winners) makes it a powerful temptation.  Throw in the ease of gambling on your phone which is always in your hand, and I see your point x 10.
