Official Peppers bitch/whine thread. And TRADE IDEAS HERE!!!!

You know what, a team that might be in the hunt for Peppers is one nobody has really thought of, Arizona. They have two huge free agents they have to work on, Warner and Dansby but their next two most important free agents are 2 of their top 3 DE's, Antonio Smith and Bert Berry. Both have been average players at best in their career who really stepped it up in the playoffs and will probably get lots of attention in the market. Arizona has a lot of other worries than just the four I mentioned like Bolden's possible trade, extensions for Darnell Dockett and Adrian Wilson plus Gabe Watson is restricted and they may have to put a first round tender on him to keep him around so an extension for him may be necessary.

AZ runs a base 4-3 but they have incorporated a lot of 3-4 looks in it from time to time. Peppers might thrive in that defense roaming around the field in an OLB/DE position.

Unfortunately, they really have some needs at RB, and two of the three interior OL positions and giving up multiple early picks for Peppers could hurt. However they could be one back for Boldin. After free agency plays out during March, AZ may have some major holes to fill at DE and if a pick comes back to them for Bolden, they may give Hurney a call as the draft approaches.

I think the Texans might just surprise us all. Kubiak has to win this year or he is probably out. Back to back 8-8 seasons is not losing but it is the playoffs like we want. Resigning Dunta Robinson and getting Peppers for the 15th overall should put us in the playoffs for sure. The Panthers will have a hard time replacing 14.5 sacks but they still have the heart of that defense which is Beason. If I'm the panthers I try to get Peppers to stick around one more year because their secondary will really be exposed. I just hope Peppers ends up down here in houston because we should have drafted him #1 in 2002 instead of Carr.

and wouldn't that be somewhat ironic if that happened considering that Carr when the Carolina after his release from Houston and Peppers would end up in Houston

RE: Peppers

This is coming from a man who watches every game in a #90 jersey. The best year Peppers ever had was when Mike Rucker and Brentson Buckner were raging, and a fresh Al Wallace could step in at full steam for either DE. After that year, he went downhill every year, until last year, and Peppers' "outstanding" performance of last year was mostly on paper.

Like any great DE, Peppers can be handled reasonably well in double coverage. For that reason, I am not a fan of paying big bucks for just one great DE, when the other side is known by opponents to be less dominant. My opinion is that DEs do their best work when they are relatively balanced in overall playmaking ability, because there's a clear advantage when offenses do not know which side brings pressure best. Invest in both sides, or invest elsewhere.

At right tackle, Damione Lewis will suddenly seem a lot smaller once Peppers is gone. Hilee Taylor is 30 pounds lighter than Pepp. Can Charles Johnson play RDE?

The year before we lost Kris Jenkins, and seemed to make some fair adjustments, but we did lose a few sacks out of it, because Jenkins could not be ignored without great cost. Losing both Kris Jenkins and Julius Peppers in two years is going to have a huge overall effect on the line.

When the best half of your defensive line leaves in two years, you are going to have to make some major adjustments.

his trade cost is about to go up

Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome said Tuesday that he is fully prepared to use the franchise tag on free agent Terrell Suggs.

Newsome is right on to identify Suggs as the most valuable of his three free agent linebackers, although Suggs will be expensive to keep. Since it will be his second straight tag, Suggs will get 120 percent of his 2008 salary, or $10.164 million. He'll be the third NFL player franchised so far, joining Matt Cassel and Brandon Jacobs. Karlos Dansby is also getting tendered. Feb. 17 - 12:49 pm et

He'll be the fourth player franchised, Shane Graham got it earlier by Cinci.

how and why would you franchise a kicker???

Id like to see him go to Arizona for Boldin and a 1st :)

keep dreaming Boldin and a 3rd maybe a 2nd, but no 1st

To Green Bay for #9 this year, 2nd round next year and Brian Brohm.

I think he would refuse because of Trgovac, but if he did not refuse then it points directly at John Fox himself

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
