So who will start vs 49ers? Is Jimmy safe?

I'm not asking who you WANT to see as starter, though feel free to post your opinion, but who do you think will actually start?

It seems most here feel Jimmy is safe and there have been some articles posted around the net backing that sentiment but also rumors of the opposite. Other places like the Charlotte Observer forums seem to generally think Moore, not Clausen will start. Yet a poll on the actual website shows Tony Pike being the most popular(though I suspect that poll may have been influenced by the article that went along with it). Some are calling for AE.

Personally, I say it's going to be between Clausen or Matt. While John Fox did not come out and state a new starter, he also made it pretty clear he was going to be considering a new one.

So who will it be?

Jimmy is going to start. Moore came in and just looked silly in his limited time last week... 2 INTs in 4 minutes or some garbage. I personally don't think it's Fox's decision anymore on who to start. Jerry wants to see what he has with Clausen and so does our new head coach for next season (whoever that may be).. Cowher. If we get a #1 overall pick, we better damn well have a good idea if Clausen is our man or not.. because #1 overall picks don't come around too often for the Panthers.

Clausen, Moore, then Pike. One or the other will come in and wont get it done, and get pulled. The next will come into a bad situation and do no better. Then they'll throw Pike in there... Whistle blows game is over. Who starts the following week? Again who knows.

OMG, if that happened and then we lost the game all 4 people on here still pulling for Matt would cause the server to shut down with all the "we just got beat by David Carr" threads and post!

Sadly they're four of the most consistent posters...consistent in terms of the drivel they spew, and that they do it all hours of the day and night.

Jimmy will start he's supose to be the future... If he goes in and does bad they should just leave him in there... This is pretty much his learning year so let him play it out... IF another quarterback had to come in... hopefully they'll put in Pike... We all know now that Moore can't get it done.

But he won a smattering of meaningless games in 2 separate Decembers, isn't that MVP material?

    • As long as Morgan is the GM, Young will be the QB. Young is 100% Morgan's guy. The contract extension is pretty much guaranteed unless Young suffers a career ending injury this season.
    • People really need to stop placing Dan Morgan on some kind of infallible pedestal. He is absolutely in lockstop with Tepper regarding Bryce and has been all along. As far as the team being okay with 185 passing yards per game. We better have a proven monster RB in our backfield then. Presently that guy is not on the roster. Chuba has one outlier season so far and the other guys have proven nothing. Not what you would call a great recipe. The only thing we can hope at this juncture is that the highest paid OL in the league for the second year in a row elevates their play from last season and opens up some massive holes even our RB's can get through. But it still doesn't resolve the issue of predictability. With no viable passing game it is much easier to shut down any run game. No defenses are scared of Bryce's arm. It is what it is.
    • i lived in Atlanta from 84'to 92' & back then it was indeed a very different time without the internet & access to information 24/7. shortly after i moved back home to western NC around 93' or 94' the Carolina Panthers were awarded an NfL franchise & began their inaugural season in 95' so ike you i have seen the Carolina Panthers, ,the NFL ,technology, fans all evolve over the many a moon & years now some for the better & others not so ...just saying
