I'm not 100% sure this is the correct way the NFL should go but???

If this is such a really bad issue "each week now", why not eject the player after the so called "devastating hits" and "head shots" PLUS the next game. This would even the playing field for when a player is "devastating hit" or receives a "head shot" that takes them out of the game.

They're not changing any rules, just the punishment. In the past, vicious hits would draw a fine which is a joke to these guys. On Sunday Night Football Rodney Harrison said he used to put aside 50k each year for the hitting fines he knew he was going to get. Rodney said players would take this rule much more seriously if they knew they could miss playing time.

I don't want to see flag football, but some of these head-hunting hits are getting out of control... maybe they should go back to leather helmets?

Football is a game of intimidation. Remove it and you ruin the game, not because of the loss of the "OH! factor," but because if the reciever no longer has to worry about "footsteps" the defense has lost 2/3 of its tools to break up a pass or stop a run. Might as well go to flag or 2 hand touch.

Give these PC bastards enough time and they'll not only screw up the game of football but everything else as well. We're already so PC you can't tell the truth.

Glad I'm getting old and may not see it all go down the toilet. But with my luck, if 2012 don't get us all, I'll live 30 more years.

This is ridiculous. If you don't want to play the game then don't. You were most likely (high 90 percents) given a free college education that you could have turned into a really nice career somewhere. Besides the fact that you (should) now have a degree you have the experience of playing college football and most employers look at that as a positive thing because of all that goes with it. You chose to chase glory and a higher paycheck but now you don't want to be hit hard. Retire and work a 9-5 like the rest of us Americans do.

When I was 8 years old and just learning to play football we were told that most injuries happen when one person is not going full speed. Throughout my playing days this became apparent. If I hit someone going full speed I never felt it but if I slowed up for any reason it is more awkward and leads to injuries. You are going to try and change the instinct of someone who has been doing this their whole life and it will not work.

What happens when a safety has a chance to make a big play on a receiver at the goal line of the SuperBowl? Does he have to be nice so he doesn't hurt him and not get suspended and possibly be black listed from every team after that or does he make the big hit, knock the ball loose, then deal with Goodell?
