Actual evidence for firing Jeff

I have hardly ever posted on here, just mostly read the posts but I want to add something to this because I'm just as upset about our Offense.

I remember the Henning days and watching the Davidson days now, there is VERY little difference between the playcalling. My wife is a Dolphins fan and I watch with her when my boys are not playing and Henning is putting together GOOD offensive stratagies each week. Things we never saw here when he was here. He is taking advantage of the talent in Miami. But Davidson stratagy looks the same as before he arrived.

In short John Fox needs to let the OFFENSIVE CORDINATOR be just that!!! I blame Fox for our offense period. Fox needs to realise that Moose, Ricky, Davis and the Fat Cats are not in Carolina any more and adjust to the TALENT we have here.

I talked to somebody back then that said it wasn't Henning calling those plays. Fox takes about as many chances as an Amish guy at whorehouse. How long did we stick with Rodney Peete? With Jake?

What really pisses me off is Fox siting Williams and Stewart while games are still winnable. Goodson doesn't need to be the featured back in a 7 point game.

...It's allll fk'ed up....

I'll give you some even better evidence.

Forget who, but someone talking on Frank and Buck this week talked about the fact that our current pass play design apparently doesn't include hot routes.

(Buckner and Garcia talked about it at length afterward)

Given the protect issues that we have right now, how on earth can you not have hot routes? :nonod:

Rookie receiver plus rookie QB's make hot routes more difficult and dangerous. Thats my guess anyway.

Whats the danger? That we may throw an interception? I mean I know we are trying to go for a record of no interceptions on the year, but come on man!

::This is a retarded post::

But, I was playing Madden 11 last night, and I am not sure how they come up with the different plays for each of the teams. I usually with the Panthers, but last night I played with the Pats. Again, I know this is probably completely retarded, but their routes are so much more complex and random compared to the Panthers pass plays.

The panthers pass plays look like they are from the 70s. Basic posts, outs, curls, streaks and maybe a few fly routes and double moves. But, I think this is kinda what our real routes are like.

Well, rookie QB's throwing short passes during a blitz can lead to int's returned for td's. I understand their concern, although perhaps they are going a bit overboard. But if you think that the fanbase is complaining about Clausen now, let him have a couple of int's returned for TD's, and the howls would be a lot louder.

I realize that many think reading hot routes and blitzes in the NFL is something anyone should be able to do, but I imagine its pretty difficult for a rookie QB to pick up.

Not having a hot route when there's little time being given by protection is a good way to get your QB killed. Add in that they've got to learn these things at some point.

Regardless, even if you can make a case for not having them when Clausen is in, why leave them out when Moore is in?

Bottom line for me: We have an offense that's geared toward long passes which often means it takes a little time for the receivers to get where they're going. Add in the medium plays with sometimes slow-developing routes, and you can see the need for some kind of quick emergency valve.

I just have a lot of questions about our play design right now.

Fwiw, your receivers have to learn hot routes as much as the QB has to.

Clausen doesn't get killed very much, he is very adept at getting out of the pocket.

Maybe we do have hot routes and the offense is just terrible at running them.

all of our passing routes take entirely to long to long to execute. and the short routes we do run somebody likes lafell drops the pass 90% of the time.so the main problem with our passing game is the playcalling and who hires coaches from f**king cleveland.

Most of our passes this year with Clausen have been short to medium range passes. I can't remember him making more than 1 or 2 long passes even when he had time.

    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
    • Guessing the price is too rich here given the injury history.  2024 was brutal and production dropped off in 2025 with a few more injuries (albeit rough qb play).    Don’t really understand the narrative that Young can’t benefit from talented upgrades on offense. Especially here with respect to a tight end. Any QB will benefit from talented receivers that threaten the top of coverage and tight ends with skills to stress zone.    The age and injury history, coupled with what he’s likely asking, just probably means we can better spend that money elsewhere.
