The one big negative today: Steve Smith has officially lost a step

We really should have traded him when we had the chance. The rest of the league is going to catch on that he's not nearly as good as he once was and we're not going to be able to get as much for him if we do end up trading him.

He looked bad on punt returns, had some bad drops, looked slower, had dumb penalties. Pretty disappointing. His occasional stupid penalties look bigger and bigger the more he continues to fall back down to earth as an average receiver.

So a high ankle sprain has nothing to do with your speed or cutting ability?

Smith has had very few drops. No more than any other year, it's just that our passing game sucks so much generally that they're more noticed.

Smith has not lost a step. At least not yet. He is just simply too unhealthy to be playing right now and he still made a few big plays.

First game back from an ankle sprain, I say no. And what do you mean by lost a step? same speed as before, still commands a double team. and now that he has help look out. on to St. Louis (im actually pretty worried about this game.)

He has absolutely no pain in his ankle. He stated this and wouldn't have been practicing this week if he did and DEFINITELY wouldn't be out there on punt returns if he did.

Also, of course he commands double teams this year. Until the Gettis emergence today, he was the ONLY competent receiver we've seen all year. You could have traded for about 30 other receivers in the league and they would have had double teams out there today too.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
