Fans of Players vs Fans of the Team

Really you are seeing things. People never thought Moore as a Elite QB and people dont worship him. Its all in your mind, If there was any worshipping it was on Clausen.

Clearly you haven't read some of these posts then. Discussions about Moore's teeth looking prettier, things like that, yeah that sounds like worship to me. Saying they don't altogether LOVE him, just close, yeah that's kinda worship too. All I saw with Clausen was people having hope that a draft pick QB would work out for us. If there's more than that, guess I missed it.

I even said myself, I didn't care for Clausen before we drafted him. But, if he succeeded it would give us national exposure like never before on a regular basis b/c of his background. And if he proved on the field that he could be a franchise QB, then I was 100% for that because that means we are successful as a team. That didn't happen, but it doesn't mean it won't later.

Moore looked like 2 different players those 1st 2 games vs. his performance on Sunday. He may not have deserved to get pulled that quick, but he didn't necessarily deserve to keep playing either. The benching was good for him.

Whatever guy gets us the W, that who I'm pulling for - I don't care about the name on the jersey.

But, I have to admit I was proud of his resilience and performance Sunday.

I agree, I wish I didn't have to come on here to read countless "Stuck by MM," "MM=Leader and God," "MM makes me erect" threads every day. 1 I enjoyed the Huddle better when we discussed play calls and not 2 "Did it look like Matt got his teeth cleaned?" The worship of a guy wih a 57 QB rating, a 1-2 record is like adolescent girls with Twilight.

1 A that's when I used to just come read all the time.

2 Thats the silly shhh this is football not cosmetology.

Everyone is worried about threads turning into quarterback arguments and this thread did just that

No it didn't. See below.

I'd say the fringe of people on here that wanted (want?) Smith to be traded so they can see him reach his potential elsewhere would qualify.

Exactly. It's not just the fanboyism over the QBs... I honestly don't know why some of these people don't spend their time creating a Tiger Beat-ish type fan club site for their favorite players. Smitty is my favorite player, but if he would've been drafted by and playing for another team, say the Falcons or Saints - I would hate him. Part of why he became my favorite player was because he's a Panther, and I want him to succeed as one.

If he goes elsewhere, I'll still pull for him, but not over my team, and I'll still be discussing MY TEAM with fellow fans. It's pretty sad, adolescent, and gutless to pull for one player to the point you spam an entire team's fan base about him and then care nothing about the team when they temporarily (or permanently) go in a different direction than 'your player.'

And you are one of three or four posters who argues with the guy for 15 pages back and forth about stupid things. Even in your post I quoted above, you took a few shots at Moore. I bet almost all of your posts have been totally about Moore or Clausen, for or against. If you didn't respond for 100s of posts back and forth then these threads wouldn't gain any traction. Take your own advice. Stick to the play calling threads and stop responding to the Moore- Clausen debate like I and several others have lately. Whether you want to hear it or not, you are part of the problem as long as you keep responding.

    • You guys remember when the narrative on here was that Bryce would be chronically injured in the NFL due to his size and Anthony Richardson would be super durable due to his? You remember when the narrative was that Bryce was physically incapable of throwing a ball further than 20 yards in the NFL? You remember “I’ll stop complaining when he throws for more than 200 yards and looks like an NFL quarterback”? You remember when 60 sacks was his fault and not the offensive line, slow WRs, and terrible scheme? Pepperidge Farm remembers. It will always be something for some people. Whatever insanity they come up with will be quickly dropped to move on to the next thing. Bryce could have an MVP Super Bowl winning season and they would complain that we can’t run the tush push with him. It will always be something.
    • For the Panthers fans still low on Bryce and demanding that he be a top-10 QB this upcoming season: What stat(s) will you need to see? Not the vibe you want, but rather what does he need to be top-10 in specifically? Passing yards? Completion percentage? Win-loss record? PFF grades? EPA? CPOE? Asking because this was asked before and... well... it ended up that the folks down on him didn't care about the numbers as much as they cared that they just couldn't get passed his size regardless of how he performed. It would be nice to get a straight-forward answer to that without the usual deflection and redirecting.
