Nick Hayden

Not a Nick Hayden fan at all. Just about every time I've seen him make a tackle it's 2 to 5yds down field. That's not good for a DT! He's one of the strongest players on the team, but yet he get's pushed off the ball with ease. Now Derek Landri is the truth! He makes me feel better about us letting Jovan Haye get away.

Hayden has been steadily improving since he got here, but most fans choose to ignore that because he sucked in his first start against NYG in '08. Just like people refuse to acknowledge Godfrey's improvement, once Panthers fans get it in their head that someone on the team isn't good, they rarely change their opinion regardless of what actually happens on the field.

I'll gladly acknowledge Godfrey's great play this year. A "steady imporvement" from crap has only got Nick to the level of average. Get back to me when he starts on a regular basis because he has earned that right. Sort of like Martin did last year.

No.

Wow...he's made a play or two. Guess what? He's supposed to.

He is not worth the. spot he takes up.

So who did the panthers cut that makes you think damn we should have kept him instead of hayden? With our defense you need to have rotational guys on the line which is perfect for him. Who on our line starts anyways every single down except maybe brayton.

its a lot easier to make snarky turnstyle and rollerskate comments that get pie than to admit he's improved a lot since his rookie year.

I'm pretty sure to stay in this league one must show continuous improvement, but that's not the issue. The fact remains the DT position- all of the players who are at that position- are the weakest aspect of this defense.

He has made some plays. But our run defense has not done very well the last couple of games, and a good portion of that falls on the defensive tackles. All of them, not just one.

I think thats the problem with going small with DTs. The Colts were the same way with Meeks. There DTs were not much of run stoppers.
