What is Stewart's problem?

Why would a player go all out and risk further injury for an owner who has shown little interest in winning this season?

Maybe to show that he's capable of being the starter in a time when the organization is obviously at a crossroads regarding the RB position? Just a thought.

Also, I'm not sure how going through the motions against a defense going 100% is a way to avoid injury.

Christ there is some ignorance in this thread. It's just plain offensive.

Stewart's entire career here he's been running behind a quality O-line. Now the O-line sucks.

He's waiting for holes to open that aren't going to open. He's trying to trust the line but it isn't paying off.

Stewart and Williams are similar but Stewart can't dance his way out of trouble like Williams can. Williams can break tackles in the backfield because he's more elusive, Stewart can't because he's more of a downhill runner. Stewart needs to build up some momentum before he can start breaking tackles while Williams doesn't.

Then you add in an anemic passing game it's not a good recipe for success.

It's not Stewart fault. I was hoping they would play Goodson some today for these reasons. It's not because Stewart sucks it's because the offense is handicapping him.

Gantt's theory is also total BS, Stewart never got a serious injury on any big hits. He had turf toe from college and then the Achilles from the turf toe. When he was in serious pain and at a dangerous risk of injuring him self he ran far harder. Why? Because he had a O-line that was playing well.

Yeah he doesn't look the same at all. I keep saying I don't understand why they keep running these stretch, power, toss, and read plays for him when the OL isn't holding up and he keeps dancing behind the line and then ends up running into someone's back.

I also noticed for not breaking any big runs, he definitely seems out of shape conditioning wise, as I kept seeing him motion to the sidelines to come out after a couple plays at a time.

He's broken. If he's gonna be a puss, they should've just gave him to Green Bay for a twinkie.

    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
