Coach John Fox shifts blame to Panthers' 'personnel people'

Fox has had his mistakes and miscues. But, I wholeheartedly side with Fox on this issue. Although Clausen was considered great value at our spot what we really needed was a vet QB to mentor Moore or be able to step in and control the offense if Moore stumbled (which he fell flat on his face). Giving up what would be a high 2nd in this years draft for a project in Armanti Edwards. When Gilyard, Ford, Price, Williams were still on the board?! We could've kept the draft pick and signed or traded for a WR for CHEAP!! Not to mention some DTs that hit the market we've could've gotten for cheap also that could've helped us out. Richardson has turned into Al Davis this year.

Fox has a right to be angry.

However, he is an NFL coach.

He shouldn't have to have players that fit his system to be successful.

He should be able to coach to fit his players.

With that said, I can definitely see where Fox is coming from and frankly, he can almost say whatever he wants about the organization's management at this point and I won't have a problem with it.

The Fat Cat hung this team out to dry from the get-go, plain and simple.

Let me add a balancing statement to that to though.

Ahem.

Mr. Fox.

Nobody cares if you don't think guys like Jimmy or Armanti fit your system-it's your job to coach them all the same. Oh, and by coach, I don't mean try to make them fit in your system-as I said before, it's your job to coach in a way that fits your players, not the other way around.

The square peg doesn't go in the circle hole.

LOL. It's like some of you all don't even follow the team. You just talk out of your asses. Did you not know that Fox and Richardson have NOT been on speaking terms for the past couple years? Did you NOT see that Fox didn't come to the presser for both Clausen and Edwards? Any fan who knows just a sliver about Fox, could look@ the lack of depth on the O line and see this was NOT a Fox team. Evertytime a player didn't join you in the mutual fellating of Richardson, he was called all sorts of rediculous names. This is JR and his lap dog Hurney's doing. Getting mad @ a guy for wanting to make money, in the last year of his contract is just "butt-hurt" homerism. I have been a Fire Fox guy for a while... but this poo is NOT his fault.

I also think that most folks recognize that it isn't something we do all the time like some of the perennial bottom feeders. They know that once the CBA is signed, Richardson will open up the wallet.

No other team in the league has treated their players and coaches this way this year. It seems like every team tried to get better (okay maybe not the Bills) despite the CBA. So to me and I bet a lot of players see that JR is willing to sacrifice a year of a career for money. And what will happen the next time a disagreement between players and owners comes up? No, this is gonna haunt the Panthers for some time. IMHO

remember the ending to butch cassidy and the sundance kid:

now imagine: That Jake Delhomme and Fox are the Butch and the Sundance kid... Jake Delhomme ran out approximately around the time of the Arizona game and Fox ran out approximately two years later......that's how I see this debacle ending

Except the Bills owner came out and said they're are rebuilding. Letting the fans know that it would take several years to build the team into a contender. While we sit here getting fed the "youth movement" crap while he raises ticket prices for a pitiful product on the field.

This x10

A good majority of the board believes that as soon as the team starts winning again (albeit in a few years) that all the sins of Jerry, and this season will go away.

News to you guys, Jerry's already shown his true colors this season. Willing to cut a whole year of these players times, and practically forcing the PSL Owners to watch this crap product he calls an NFL team. Just to watch his own pockets.

It's sad.

    • I don't think working from memory is going to be very productive or useful. You would need to compare them all, which is far easier to do from the breakdowns of each game. That has tiered charts that give real data.  But, even then that wouldn't substitute for a trained eye(s) doing detailed film analysis to attempt to determine if we are modifying the offense dramatically for Bryce.
    • I think front office and general team culture under new ownership is sort of on the right track. The rookies all look incredible compared to where you'd expect each one of them to be right now. Lee's in game coaching is awful, he might be ok as a culture and developmental guy but that can't outweigh the in-game miscues and bad game plans. If LaMelo can't figure out the ankles then I think you gotta trade him for a haul, can't keep having your seasons lost every year because he can't stay on the court. And I say that as a big fan of him. Miller I think is unlucky, he looks likely to be an elite core player for us, but if he can't put together a stretch of healthy seasons he would trend towards LaMelo and need to be moved. I used to like Miles on the court a lot more but nowadays he's just an empty stat guy who needs to go. The short lived hot start to the season was fun but unless LaMelo and Miller both get and stay healthy within the next few weeks I can't even see us being a play-in team this year. And even if they do get healthy, we're probably looking at play-in at best, maybe barely compete for that fringe 6th seed.
