So I just read today that the Eagles want Vick to be their QB for next year and beyond. So what happens to Kolb? I've watched some of Kolb and he looks like a good QB to me.

Would it be wise for us to make some kind of move for a QB that is "sort-of" proven, knowing our track record (or lack thereof) of developing QB's? I'm sure he doesn't want to stay there and play second fiddle to Vick.

This could allow us to work on some other needs too.

The only reason it is even slightly enticing is if we miss out on the #1 pick and Andrew Luck. If that happens then I wouldn't be opposed to trading a future 3rd rounder for Kolb and draft AJ Green. If we get the #1 pick then you draft Luck and you leave Kolb alone.

Possibly, but what I've seen I've liked. He hasn't had much of a chance with the whole Vick thing going on.

But he's classy and a team guy. He hasn't complained about Vick getting starts or anything, but is supportive and even cheering on the sidelines. He seems like a JR kind of guy.

Plus he's been in the Eagles system that is way better at creating QB's than we are I'm sure.

But you're right, let's see what the HC wants to do. Getting a semi-proven talent though could get us in the right direction quicker.

I just have 0 faith in this team developing a QB. Unless we get some proven coach in here that's done it in the past, it's scary to me.

I have zero faith in FOX developing a quarterback. But I wouldn't be opposed bringing in Kolb and another older vet and keeping either Clausen or Pike. Kolb is young enough that he can grow and mature with us and be our QB of the future. I haven't a lot of him but from what I have seen and read he's a pretty good QB.

his close to 12 million dollar salary for next season wouldn't make sense since he has played so little up to this point IMO. kolb may be in philly longer than vick anyway but our problems on offense have very liitle to do with our qb's right now. until we fix the leaks in our o line & get somebody who can call decent plays we won't know about our young qb's or receivers

      So happy that LaMelo got the layup to go and *won* the game. How happy he was after the game, that's what a young dude like him needs to keep it going and keep the belief going. If we lose, LaMelo gets blamed, and he's got an offseason to be in his head and hear the noise like the last few years. The season might still have an ugly ending, but weirdly feels like last night was HUGE for this team moving forward.

      My thoughts on Carolina's post-season run: Obviously, the season began with a below average Freddie Andersen and everyone hoping Kochetkov would pick up the slack, until he got hurt. Enter Brandon Bussi who had a made-for-TV movie type run until the end of the season, when he came crashing back to earth, his save % drops under .900 and the team needs to score 5-6 goals to win games. Freddie has shown signs of a resurgence and Bussi looked pretty good the last 2 games of the season, but both sample sizes are small and questions abound for all 3 goalies. The physicality of playoff hockey will take its toll. Save for a few players, the Canes best players are small, their top 2 lines are small and there's no getting around that. The only way to protect the size disadvantage is a strong forecheck. Allowing opposing teams to establish the offensive zone and create board battles with smaller players will hurt Carolina. The Stankoven line could be a difference-maker. If they continue to play well against lower defensive pairs, it only adds to the depth of the team.  The Aho line had stretches of absenteeism during the season. The Canes cannot afford to have them dry up offensively and leave the scoring to Ehlers and the Stankoven line. If they aren't performing well, teams will simply roll their best lines out on the Canes best playing lines.  If the Canes can get by Ottawa and get some help from Boston against Buffalo, I think they have a legit shot to make the finals. Make no mistake, I think their toughest challenges are Ottawa and Buffalo in the East.
