Would You Be Happy with Mike Goodson as the Future at RB?

Let's see how Goodson does against a team like the Ravens or Steelers before we act like he's the next big thing. He's fast, can cut, and is elusive, but one 100 yd game a star does not make. Not to mention, you can't run wide every single time. He and Stewart is not the same as D-Lo and J-Stew. But Goodson and D-Lo is not as good either as we need one "bruiser". I say keep D-Lo, trade J-Stew, sign a part-time bruiser and go 70/30 split like a normal team and use Goodson like the Saints use Reggie Bush.

honestly it's not about money but the fact we're better off letting the running game take a back seat to the passing game in the future, and we can still get great production with a committee of lesser running backs that can move the chains because the passing offense is such a threat rather than paying guys top money to miss games due to injury because RBs are pretty much the easiest players to get hurt

Okay, that was one game with 100 yards rushing. Not sure it's time to bid adieu to Williams and Stewart. Let's get some perspective folks -- I know the season sucks but this wasn't a real lights out performance.

Goodson is still the third best RB we have, but on a lousy day, he was the best guy on our team. He should feel great about the work he turned in and should be looking forward to the Ravens.

But let's really, really be realistic -- if you could only take one of our running backs for your team next year, would Goodson really be the one you'd pick now? Give him some more time, he might be great, or he might be Nick Goins again, and that's not a bad thing at all.

lol at all the sutton homers. O wait the 2 only sutton homers on this board. What has Sutton done to make u think he is better than goodson?

career stats...

sutton - 19 attempts, 109 yards, 5.7 ypc

goodson - 61 attempts, 199 yards, 3.3 ypc

...keep in mind that 23 attempts and 100 yards is from yesterday. before that he had 38 attempts for 99 yards @ 2.6 ypc

-goodson's first 19 attempts were for 33 yards @ 1.7 ypc...and a fumble.

-in 61 attempts goodson has never had a run of 20+ yards, sutton has 2 in 19...as a matter of fact, in 61 attempts goodson has only 4 runs for over 10 yards

can any of the goodson homers explain why a 4.54 rb can't break a mid range/long run after 61 attempts?

here's a hint...speed does not equal talent.

...and let's not even get on the subject of ball security.

i would love for the RB/FB corps to stay just as they are and then build the passing game. keep the strengths strong and strengthen the weak spots. you don't have to decide between the two. there's plenty of money to keep them all and still improve the passing game.

that said, even though i wouldn't shop any of them around, i wouldn't be closed minded to any offers that came. there are some trades that are just too good to turn down.
