What is the Deal with Devin Thomas?

I saw him finally active and returning kickoffs (albeit badly) today. I know supposedly he was suffering from an injury before and that's why he didn't play, but I'm starting to think it was less about injury.

From what I saw, he was barely in on pass plays... I actually think Clowney was in on more plays than him still on offense, and I only saw DT targeted once on that screen and he dropped it.

Seems he's basically relegated to KO Return duties despite his physical talents just like he was in Washington before being released. I'm definitely disappointed in him if this is the case, as I had thought he would be a huge addition to the offense.

Being that we claimed him off waivers, didn't we assume responsibility for the remainder of his contract? If so, don't we have him signed through next year off his rookie deal? I hope so... Because if it's a coaching issue, I hope he gets utilized more next year... Or we'll just find out that he actually really sucks.

This was a bad landing spot for him

He is on a run first team that run very few 3 or 4 WR sets and Fox is big on seniority so Clowney is in front of him on the depth chart.

He was released for a reason...and it isn't that the Skins are dumbasses and let a Top 10 wr go. LaFell and Gettis show promise. I doubt we'll see anything from DT and he won't be on the team in 2011. That goes for Clowney as well.

I feel the same way.

i hear ya OP. i was hoping he would take this chance a little more serious than his last effort. but if he can't start on this team, he must really just suck. oh well, gettis seems to be getting the hang of things. im not saying he's playing great, but i like the progress im seeing and that td pass today was pretty fukin sweet. he's got some wheels.

I think some are giving the redskins waaay too much credit lol. These are the same guys that gave Albert Haynesworth $100 million. And the same guys that gave McNabb $15 million each year for the next five seasons. It's kind of hard to evaluate a new receiver when Georges St. Pierre's retarded step brother is starting at QB. I refuse to write him off under that circumstance alone.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
