This thread might be the death of me but hear me out on this before shooting down the idea...

As most are aware on this forum, the main topic and focus has been on the potential search for the next head coach for Carolina.

While there may be a new head coach roaming the hallways of BOA Stadium next season (if there is a season), there will be questions as to what players will come and go in Carolina.

There has been some speculation amongst the fans (merely ideas) that we could ship Clausen to a WCO team since (as Mr. Scot has alluded to) he seems to fit better in that scheme.

I personally would like to see what Clausen can do under a new regime and see how the new head coach ultilizes him and whether he can fix the rookie's biggest problem, confidence.

Meanwhile, in Philly, the Eagles are having no issues with their QB situation, except they have two talented QBs that neither one wants to be "second string." Seeing the situation going on in Philly and what is happening here in Carolina., I am sure the new head coach would like to bring in someone to compete with Clausen... Why not Kolb?

I know everyone is high on Luck but why bring in another unproven rookie QB when there is a guy sitting on the bench in Philly eager to start again?

Essentially the problem is that we don't know what Philly will do with Kolb but based on his performance in the limited time he has played, they can certainly get some trade value for him which wouldn't suit well with Carolina.

Could we possibly trade our #1 pick for a later #1 pick and still manage to get Kolb and yet get someone of need later in the 1st?

Food for thought

To me Kolb is still unproven.

agreed with this which helps this next comment put the whole matter to rest, imo.

The Eagles want two first for him.

If any of you can get past that statement, good luck with the thread.

yeah....i'd rather roll with luck.

in defense of the OP, it's a reasonable assumption that kolb, if brought in, would be brought in by a new head coach and staff... which, conceivably, could be of the WCO minset.

Possible. I personally hope not. I'm not that big a fan of the WCO.

What always makes me shake my head is when people look at a WCO quarterback and think his stats project just as well to a conventional offense.

People used to call for us to go after Jeff Garcia on an annual basis, not remembering that every time he was taken out of that system, he stunk.

Marty Mornhinweg was one of the dumbest head coaches in the history of the NFL. The fact that he's not messing up while coordinating one of the most talented receiving corps in the NFL with former 1st overall pick throwing to them, does not override that.

Hey, maybe he'd do okay...as long as none of our games went to overtime :sosp:

    • Bryce has the clutch gene no one can argue that. The problem is that we wouldn't be in half of these situations if Bryce was throwing for more than 120 yards a game.  I like Bryce and I hope he can figure it out, but you can't consistently win high level NFL games throwing for less than 200 yards. I thought he turned the corner last year after his benching as it looked like he and Dave had the confidence in each other to throw the ball down the field. I don't know where that has been this year, but it seems they've forced Bryce into a checkdown game manager. It's leading to wins so that's a good thing but when push comes to shove late in the year when things get down, we really need to open up the playbook and let Bryce sink or swim and prove he's the guy going forward.
    • Bryce technically having to make some throws doesn’t mean they aren’t winning in spite of below average QB play.  Every time a team wins with a meh QB play holding them back…..the QB still technically participates in the game and you can cherry pick some random play.  Bryce got them in a huge hole vs Miami for example and Rico dug them out with crazy play.  Using that as an example of believing in Bryce is crazy work
