Rex Ryan is coming to Foxboro to "kick ass"

Who's ass you ask?

The fun really picked up Monday when Jets coach Rex Ryan gave Bob Glauber of Newsday the kind of quote that works as catnip for reporters. “I came here to win,” Ryan said. “As much as I respect and admire Bill Belichick, I came here to kick his ass, and that’s the truth. That’s just the way it is.”

Asked on Wednesday by New York reporters when the last time a coach said he wanted to kick his ass, Belichick initially didn’t say anything. “I don’t know,” he finally said. (We can feel the awkwardness from here.) Belichick gave a longer but no less dry answer to Ryan’s comments on Tuesday.

“I’m not really worried about anybody else,” Belichick said. “I’m just trying to get this team ready to play. I’m not surprised that they expect to win and they’re confident they’re going to win. So are we. It might be a headline story for you guys — both teams expect to win.”

Don't you just love nationally televised big rivalry games with playoff implications?

it's not getting old to me.. after watching his interviews, it's more said in a fun/joking manner.. taking it out of context like these reports I could see getting old..

when they played the Browns, that was a great week of smack talk.. he is the exact opposite of Fox.. I'm enjoying it..

    • Not a fan but that is a harsh situation. I hope he stays away and enjoys his next chapter in life.
    • Replacing Dalton at 1-5 in 2 seasons isn't climbing the mount everest of roster management. Great isn't even in the conversation. Healthy and coachsble should have been with a QB 1 in his 3rd year.
    • A backup that isn't worth playing when they need it is just stupid. 2 years in a row Dalton has shown the adlbility ro be fun for 1 game and then he is washed. Thr fun game isn't great but it's fun at least. He is washed at this point and that fine for him. He had a good career.  I agree about the hail merry type for a number 2 by this point in our peocess. It doesn't even have anything to do with Bryce because he has his own thing and it's his 3rd year. It's just about wasting a valuable roster spot in a spot where healthy guys still miss time. It's just dumb when they aren't a rookie and it's a little suspect in year 2...which it certainly was last year after 1 game and the backup's body broke down again. It was a natural time to let Dalton go into retirement and they did the dumb thing IMO.
