Smitty closed door meeting with Richardson

Hahahahahahaha.

Completely baseless rumor started by a random caller to Frank and Buck. No source or evidence to believe it at all. If it did happen, it could have been JR that called the meeting, not Smith. Regardless of who called the meeting, they could have been discussing any number of things, but everyone jumps to the conclusion that Smith wants to be traded.

The result on the Huddle:

omg F**K STEVE. Dat guy suckz. He wuz never good! He'z a diva cuz he tells the truth lolz. I hate him >.<

Let's please not forget that Steve Smith carried this franchise on his back for years. He's been a top talent since he came to the league and yet he has never had a good QB to throw him the ball. He's the best player we've ever had and no one is even threatening that title right now. All he's ever wanted was a #2 receiver and a QB that doesn't suck dick. Instead, the FO trims the roster and provides him with worse receivers and a worse QB than he's ever had with only a few good seasons left in his career. Anyone who doesn't think he has a right to be frustrated should probably commit seppuku immediately.

Hurney should have traded him when nobody thought he would be traded. Now that the whole league knows that he wants out a lower draft pick is more probable.

Ya think?? I cant wait to get a new coach/gm in there. We could of gotten our Armanti pick back if we traded him to the Vikings before the deadline. I'd rather see Steve shred defenses for another team than have to see him getting "Pickled" here in Carolina

Just wanted to point out a few quick things about Steve Smith and Jerry Richardson:

1) As seen in many pictures in this thread and the picture below. The two actually have a ratther good relationship. The picture below was taken during training camp

this year.

2) Steve Smith is actually the Panthers players rep and could have easily been talking about the Labor issues with Jerry.

3) Smitty's contract expires either after next year or the year after. So talks could have been about that as well.

This... some more of this.... a little more of this. Try some of this and this together. This and no more. Just this.

Pie and rep.

This may be the most likely. It would make sense since JR is heavily involved in CBA negotiations. I think we're blowing this out of proportion, until we get more concrete evidence. I'll reserve my opinion and judgment until more comes out.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
