A different (promise) poll on Luck that...

...I hate to create a new thread for, I but really want to know where everyone stands on this.

How many of you guys have watched him play this year (or the last 2) and know the hype that he brings with him?

I can no way say I know the truth behind the hype, because I have only seen him play twice (this year against Oregon and USC). Obviously there are highlights, but I am wondering how many people are convinced on Luck based on your own "scouting report".

It is so easy to read the hoopla and show your bias toward him, and I personally think he is the real deal.

To play devils advocate though, most of us knew what Peppers (another name I hate to bring up) was capable of before we drafted him, because he was in our backyard, and we all watched him. Whereas Carr and Harrington were 3000 miles away, and I at least saw their stock go up on hype rather than what I saw every Saturday.

I live in Cali & have seen him play about 6 games if I recall correctly. He reminds me of Steve Young, who I grew up watching. I think he will be at least as good as Aaron Rodgers. Just my opinion.

:) I really hope more people (like you) are familiar with him. I know hype is great, but I want to know who has been following him since that hype grew.

There was a game this year, I can't remember which, I was watching & he audibled like crazy about 4 or 5 times on a drive & picked apart the defense like nothing. I was like wow only QBs on Sundays do it that precise. That was like in October I think when the hype was just starting to really snowball. I can say that's when I really took notice of how intelligent he was.

i don't watch college football, but when i saw his name start to be tossed around i watched videos of him.

not highlight packages, but actual game videos. there are lots of them on youtube where they show every play he made during a game.

what i saw was that most of his completions (and there were a LOT of incompletions) came to wide open receivers. not much tight coverage or perfectly threaded throws. he's not going to see many wide open receivers in the NFL, so it makes me trepidatious.

There was actually a thread in this forum for a while that got bumped every time Stanford played.

But JOAT shipped it off to the College forum because Harbaugh/Luck wasn't Panther relevant. :(

We tried.

I've watched every video of him available on YouTube and read every article I can find about him. I've not seen him play, but I don't really watch college football anyway. If NFL scouts who do this for a living say he's the best prospect in a decade and it's pretty much consensus, then I believe them and say we have to pick him.

    • One thing about it, he's not thinking about retiring. I found it odd that some Huddlers were taking rumors and running with them, imagining a slow down and "up-playing" injuries. Moton feels great and is still in his prime according to him, and his game is still indicative of his thoughts.  Sure, it may ultimately come down to economics, but I am sure that everyone involved is motivated to keep him in Charlotte.
    • I think the knee stuff with Moton has been blown way out of proportion. The exact quote was “It’s chronic stuff. Most linemen deal with it. But it’s just figuring out what we can do to make sure it’s limited and I’m still able to explode off it, which right now I can and I feel like I can in the future,” After a while, you start learning more about it and what can we do to make sure it’s as little of an issue as possible. I feel like I’m moving like I was when I was younger.” I don't view that as a guy who's saying his knees are on their last leg I see that as a 10-year NFL olineman saying that obviously after 10 years of playing a really physical sport, he's never truly gonna be 100% healthy again and he's gonna need to spend more time with the training staff to ensure his body can continue to perform at a high level. I think Moton has another 3 to 5 years left if he wants to continue playing.
    • So much crying. Tiresome. All of you should have had enough time to come to terms with the team picking up his 5th year...
