John Fox told Mick Mixon that he fixed the offence in 2008,and h.e will fix the defence in 2009. Remember thats what he did in 2003.

After thinking about this for a second. It took him getting moose back, and two first round draft picks last season to get the offense "fixed". The problem is, we will most likely lose peppers, and we don't have one first round pick this year. You can argue we will get one for peppers, but there's no guarantee there.

I think Fox will right the ship, or will be fired trying to do so.

If we develop a good scheme next year, losing Peppers won't really hurt that much. In the past few years we had an average to poor scheme with a few guys who could make plays. If we developed a better defensive scheme it would maximize our talent and elevate our play. There are a lot of teams without superstars who have been good for some time. Look at Piitsburgh for example. They have a few defensive stars but they also have alot of good guys who shine in that system. Woodley and Harrison account for over half their sacks. And their secondary is average at best. But they have a great defensive scheme that keeps oppponent off balanced.

Unfortunately we won't be running their scheme or anything close to it, but the fact is that having a great scheme makes up for average to good players more so than a few superstars make up for a poor scheme, IMO.

Worth remembering that it took more than one year to "fix" the offense.

Step 1 was the hiring of Jeff Davidson. Step 2 was acquiring the right players to run what Davidson wanted.

It could be argued that part of the reason it took longer is that the injury to Delhomme held them back a year, but in truth I don't think the "fix" happens without the acquisition of Otah and Stewart.

So on the defensive side, the question becomes can you do both in one offseason? An offseason where the biggest physical talent on that side of the ball is leaving?

    • I could be waaaaaaay off about Kon. I do fault myself into, to borrow a NFL phrase heavily "RAS" nerd on players, too much. There are PLENTY of athletic freak shows that are playing overseas(or Amazon delivery) cause they never figured out NBA ball. I can easily miss seeing the talent. Plus did he only have 2 dunks on the season??(is that for real??) I didn't watch over a few hours of duke, but not one point did I think "That Kon guy is a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft". IMO I still foresee Ball bringing the ball up, doing his weak isolation game and never even looking for Kon. That's his best trait according to everyone, shooting right? I do not see ball, bridges, miller or even williams making the extra pass to Kon for him to shoot a 3.  Then defense-wise, Im not ready to type the amount of questions I foresee in his ability for guarding NBA SGs or bench SFs for that matter. Not that NBA players care to defend, but still..... I just feel he's a bad fit for the current hornets, trades are taking place tho... Liam to me is a decent comp for Kon and he fell some, but was a 29 overall pick. Still around 13-21 was the good solid range for Liam and I thought the same for Kon. This is just a classic case of I need to see it. It add to this, Kon is like garlic. Ball is like sugar and Miller is like flour. Mix it together and chef Lee is not going to get me to eat that dish..... Honestly I don't know why Im this vocal about Kon. In past years I would be patience and not post and see what the kid has. The other side, insert classic white boy terms here- _____, ______, _______< etc >. Hornets do desperately need them. His crafty back door cuts, his willingness to stay a extra 2 hours to refine lees plays, keep playing with bruised limbs. I heard from many reports he's mentally tough and hornets by all gods need that. God they are such pussys.  I hope Im wrong and if so, I will give Kon his just props.
