Those Who Like Palmer, He's Demanding Trade

So, you're comparing Palmer to the worst qb situation in the league?.. Yeah, that's really logical. He didn't "play bad for Carson," he's been bad since his injury. HE's throwing to future hall of famer, Terrel Owens, who is still a very good receiver, as well as Chad Johnson who is a great 1 receiver. He's behind a solid offensive line and gets good support from the run. Tell me how a good qb wins 4 games under those circumstances.

Sure, he might improve our situation by winning 1 or 2 games more games, but he's no longer the QB he was even 2 years ago. I would rather pay players like DeAnglo and Charles Johnson than sign that piece of poo.

How is that not logical?? The question is simply would he make Carolina better. Considering we had the worst QB in the league......and currently nothing behind him. How would he not make us better.

In 2009 they won 10 games. You think Palmer would only improve us by 1 or 2 games? Carolina would be a 3 win team next year w/ him? I don't get that logic. The reason they went from 10 wins in 09 to 4 in 10.....might just have something to do w/ the fact they went from the 9th ranked rushing attack to the 27th ranked attack.

the question isn't where does Carson stack up against NFL QBs currently.....just would he make us noticeably better than our existing options.

I don't see the trade happening, but if it did I wouldn't be upset at all. He would be a better version of Rodney Peete--best days behind him but still able to play at a high enough level to bring stability to the offense. The best part is that he has several years left, unlike Peete, who was 35 or 36 when the Panthers played him in 2002.

Put a Palmer on the field and that also gives the team time to properly coach up and evaluate Clausen and Pike. But I don't think it's likely, unless Hurney/Rivera is WAY different in their approach than Hurney/Fox.

For a team that puts a lot of value into building through the draft, we do not need to waste a draft pick on this guy. We need our draft picks. Plus, I dont think this guy is going to want to come to a team that doesnt figure to contend for a few season.

If he came here, then he'd just use that retire scare tactic on us. Pass.

He's unlikely to want to come here, but if he did, and his contract was restructured, he would be a simply amazing acquisition.

This is not a 1 year stop gap, but an experienced pro that can run an offense while our other prospects are coached up for the future...

I can't imagine it happening but it would be nice.

Carolina does put a lot on building in the draft.

Carolina also hasn't been afraid to go after FA's....mainly guys on the backside of good careers.

I still think the rest of the talent outside of the QB position is unfairly dogged.

Next season we will have a good OL (when healthy they are simply that), a great backfield, and a pretty good defense (coaching good make it very good). The WRs scenario ain't much worse than it has been the past half decade. All we need is QB play and this team will be right back in the mix. Plus, you know Jerry will spend like always to bring in guys for holes (unlike 10).

It's been rumored in the past that I have a bigger "chud" for Palmer than I do for Moore.

Can anyone imagine if Moore and Palmer were on the team next year?

I assure you, it would be awesome!

How are we supposed to get rid of you if they're BOTH here?? ;)

on another note... It sounds like this could be caused by them trying to force Palmer to take a pay cut:

In December, the AFC North blog reported that Palmer would not accept a pay cut to remain with the Bengals in 2011.
from http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/23728/carson-palmer-is-officially-bengalized ...

So perhaps he just got sick of it and told them he wanted to be traded.

However, that does make me wonder if he'd take a pay cut to play elsewhere... Probably only if it was a place he wanted to be.
