11 Easy Steps

Yeah lost me at number 2 too. Here is the alternative version.

1. Do NOT resign Dwill. Goodson played his heart out this season. He deserves some carries. A stable of RB's like ours is a luxury. Use the salary saved to extend Beason and resign our other key FA's.

2. Alex Smith.... Guy has had so many different playbooks thrown at him it is ridiculous. A young mentor and competition for Clausen. As far as i know has never had a nervous breakdown and walked out on his coach and team.

3. Draft Patrick Peterson. I am aboard. We have enough WR's and Smitty is not going anywhere. That leaves the top corner prospect. PP has been solid every year of college and has rare physical talent.

4. Barry Cofield and Sione Fua added to the interior.

5. Alex Henery. Time to draft Kasey's eventual replacement.

6. Play a song by Kelly Osbourne instead of her daddy. That would really scare the opposition.

7. Distribute the ball evenly and make the defenses respect ALL our receivers.

8. No worries with the addition of Cofield, Fua, and PP Rivera will have us atop the defense standings by mid season.

9. Beason can play anywhere he wants.

10. I agree that AE needs to be involved.

OK for all the critics... I did two searches and didn't find this anywhere. Pretty interesting article and honestly all of it makes sense.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/591235-how-to-fix-the-nfls-worst-team-the-carolina-panthers-in-6-easy-steps

1. Resign D'Will... The man has a YPC average of Barry Sanders and because of J. Stewart is still pretty fresh. Keep double Trouble Together

no-brainer

2. Vince Young... i know many scream HELL NO and he's a bum and on and on but 10-3 is alot better than 3-9. (TD / Int ratio) 98.6 passer rating. Wait until he his cut and sign him. We have first dibs on waiver claims. (if that is how they do it during the offseason)

wanna have another asshole?

3. Draft Nick Fairley... They make a good point. He will command attention and if he gets alot of attention. The Beast will be free to be the BEAST.

normally, i would say yes but if the upcoming cba includes a rookie cap, you should think about peterson. i think that you will still get a very gifted DT at #65

4.DJ Williams. Not the #1 TE but might be available at # 65.

a 6-2, 236lbs guy cant be a credible TE in the nfl, imo...

7. Make Smitty a Pro Bowler again. Get him the ball. No doubt about it. I think Chud's is gonna make this his #1 or #2 priority. TE being the other.

cut that a.... he was running his mouth way too often last season.

8. BLITZ... NO DOUBT Again.. We have the studs to really make this a #1 defense. Dont know how many remember J. Del Rio's Defense but that was an exciting defense with 1/2 the talent and still ended up #3 or 4 overall. With this D.. No reason why we could not go straight to #1.

the jags' had one of the worst pass-rushing defenses last season...but yes, you have enough material to russ efficiently.

9. Beast in the Middle.... His natural position and others can play outside. Beast is naturally suited for MLB.

who? sorry, i am not a panthers' fan...

10. AE need a chance. I am of the same belief. This guy was the only 2x Walter Payton award winner. He didn't get there by being mediocre. Chud's will get him involved.

11. Add it all up and makes me Smile too. I am glad we have some fresh faces on this team. I can't wait for us to actually use it.

GO PANTHERS

offtopic: which defense will you run?

Im wondering about this 3-4 defense. What personnel would we run? I was looking at the jets personnel and their LBs are a lot bigger than ours, around 6'4" 260. Our's are closer to 6' 230. Could see Hardy and Norwood on the inside. E Brown might be too slow. thomas and Andy on the outside. Johnson and ? at end and whoever we draft at NT. What do yall see with the personnel we have to make this work. Still got hillee taylor too.

No, No, No!

We do not have the personel to run the 3-4 full time. Not to mention Beason would be WASTED in a 3-4. He is too small for the middle and not big enough for outside.

x2

i actually skimmed this one, though. proposed getting the ball to smitty as much as possible. that isn't going to happen. say bye bye to the "feed the stud" mentality. chud and rivera wants that ball spread around. smitty (and his fanboys) is just going to have to get used to being pissed about him not getting the ball often.

I'm not pissed. :P

i have to ask again...did anyone state that you will run a 3-4???

question 2: is your new OC a westcoast guy? or more the air coryell-type?

rivera said we will be running a 4-3 but there will be elements of a 3-4 running as well. there has also been discussion that we will have a 3-4 from time to time, though it won't be the base D by any means.

re: the OC, our whole offensive staff comes from a coryell background. not a WCO guy among them.

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
