Say we do draft Newton, what to do with bum ass Clausen?

Awesomeness!!

Hopefully we trade down to get Newton, pick up a few picks, and send Clausen away in the deal. Otherwise, I don't want him poisoning Cam Newton. If he doesn't get any takers, which is highly possible, I say just cut him, if a CBA is reached.

I can't believe more people haven't been discussing this topic already.

Good question.

I'm assuming we HAVE to pick up a veteran and that Newton will not be NFL ready for a while, maybe even a season or two.

In that case we have something like:

1) Veteran QB (Vick or Manning probably j/k)

2) Newton

3) Clausen/

4) Moore on the Practice Squad

I think we keep Clausen no matter what. See Mr. Scot's and others posts here:

Clausen isn't going anywhere, not this season anyway.

Doesn't matter whether we like it or not. He will get his chance with the new staff.

We likely won't be able to trade down to get Newton bc Newton might not make it past Buffalo. Their local press has been loving on him, they need to sell tickets, and want to become relevant again.

It is going to be either take him number one or don't. Their won't be much wiggle room with Newton. 6 teams have been reported to have Newton the number one player in the draft right now. His stock will likely go up as we get through the process. We are going to have to make a decision on what we want. IMO it will come down to Cam or Fairley. I think that it will be 50/50, but there is only a 30% chance of that.

    • Saw this on the news. Michael Vollman plays pro hockey in Switzerland, wants to build an arena and bring minor league hockey here.
    • Easiest passing schedule? Lmao
    • CMC even said he was surprised that he was actually traded but the huddle huddles and most people read one thread and believe everything they read. Case in point. Unbelievable how consistently the made up BS continues to swirl back around. GMs liked IRing players as soon as we were no longer in contention. Cam sat the last couple weeks in 2016 but no one says he quit. I remember CMC’s last game against Miami. He didn’t even look hurt during the game but we were out of it and we benched him again. Especially at a position like RB, no need to risk injury. Clearly. Fitterer saw him as trade bait the next season so of course they won’t risk him going for last place.
