Combine QBs: Newton, Mallet & Locker Throwing, Gabbert not

With Cam and Gabbert's decisions, I definitely see Cam surpassing ALL QBs for the #1 QB ranking on every team's draft board.

And that makes me happy... I really hope we take him and I thought Gabbert was a bum anyway. What is his reason? If he doesn't have a good one sounds like he isn't confident/scared.

I really don't think this is necessarily the case; I think there's a good chance Newton could have passed Gabbert regardless of Gabbert's decision in the combine, and ultimately, I don't think this decision will matter at all to his draft stock.

If Gabbert has a great pro-day, and impressed with interviews etc, nobody is going to care that he didn't throw at the combine. Somebody will take him around where somebody would have taken him before.

Newton has more to gain by throwing than Gabbert does though.

I'm glad Cam is doing this it shows he want too put alot of doubt to rest.

Cam can't rely on game flim alone because he ran the dumbest offense for a QB with pro aspirations. He needs the combine too show he is willing and can learn a pro system.

Sure, but how does the combine show that he can learn a pro system, read defenses etc.? It's not the right kind of a test.

I think people know Newton did not come from an NFL ready situation.I have confidense that he can show that with his natural ability he can be coached to NFL form.Coming from a guy that two months ago thought Cam would be a bust I have come around to think that we have a chance to draft an elite qb who is an athletic freak with a rocket launcher arm.My only question at this point is he coachible and is he smart enough? He has answered everything else in my corner. He made some bad decisions while at Florida but feel he is beyond that.

If he bust he will make one hell of a tight end.
