And truthfully it’s an eastern conference final roster. Miller hopefully Ehlers and we trade for a second center in a few months or during the season and that’s how we get past Florida we’re very close.

Ehlers will help but we desperately need a 2C and to be honest we need to move on from Ghost. Slavin can carry someone like EK but Walker isn’t good enough to carry Ghost.

I’d like:

Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis

Svechnikov - 2C - Stankoven

Carrier - Staal - Martinook

Hall - Jankowski - Blake

Slavin - Karlsson

Miller - Chatfield

Nikishin - Walker

Gotta wonder if all those moves happen if they bumped Jarvis to 2C and Blake up.

That line up would stand a chance against FL

-9 in the playoffs.

You're fooling yourself if you think he was here for his defensive prowess. Guy had 45 points last season. That's the only reason he was on the roster.

This means we can't trade the other one at the deadline

You can still trade the first round pick, it goes with the original conditions set forth in the sign and trade.  The team that acquires the pick agrees to those terms and the pick is still dependent on where the Canes and Stars finish.

I don’t care how many points you score, if you are a defensemen then you have to be more serviceable than a PNC parking cone in your own end.

It was foolish to acquire a third paring guy that needs an elite babysitter next to him in order to be adequate in his own end.

Slavin and Burns worked because of how good Slavin is. Ghost and Walker doesn’t work.

Have to pair them like this for it to work, imo.

Slavin - Miller

Nikishin - Walker

Ghosty - Chatfield

I'd prefer something different but that's probably what we end up with unless Ghost is traded to one of the 17 teams not on his MNTC.

Hey, my name is not Don Waddell or Tulsky. I didn't bring Gostisbehere here. Just sayin', after letting 33% of the best scoring blue line in the league walk along with a few other scorers, I don't think defense was on the mind of those making contract decisions.

Down to Carolina and Washington for Ehlers.

I honestly do think we will land him, Ovi has maybe one more year, the caps are probably a board line wild card team. We have more money and weather or not he picks us we are a far better team than Washington.

If Elhers signs I think we should bump Jarvis to center.

Elhers-Aho-Svechnikov

Hall-Jarvis-Stankoven

Carrier-Staal-Martinook

Robinson-Jankowski-Blake

Nadeu* (I think if he isnt used as a trade he will be displacing someone on the roster hes a top 6 talent)

Slavin-Chatfield

Miller- Burns***?

Nikishin-Walker

Although I think we over paid I've come around to the miller acquisition, if we can bring Burns back short term this us a lot of SIZE speed and Length in the D core, if there was anything painfully obvious about playing Florida it was that outside of Slavin/Nikishin/Burns the other 3 were getting out muscled and giving up the middle.

The roster above I believe can at a minimum take Florida 7 games.

Vegas and Montreal need to cut $7.6M and $5.2M respectively. Any trade possibilities there?

Vegas is unfortunately fine, the LTIR pool isnt reflected in that when Pietelgrinos LTIR will more than cover it

    • Per Bill Barnwell  Vikings bring back a familiar face Vikings get: WR Adam Thielen Panthers get: 2026 sixth-round pick, 2027 seventh-round pick A reunion between Thielen and his former team seems too easy. The Vikings are struggling with injuries at wide receiver and a potential Jordan Addison suspension. The Panthers want to see what they have with their younger wideouts, and Hunter Renfrow's emergence in camp as a potential fourth or fifth option could squeeze a roster spot for Thielen, who doesn't play special teams. The problem is Thielen's $6.25 million base salary. The Vikings obviously would prefer the Panthers cut the 34-year-old and pick him up for free, but Carolina already paid Thielen a $1.5 million roster bonus earlier in the offseason, suggesting it expected to have him. His salary isn't yet guaranteed, but it will become so if he's on the roster in Week 1, leaving the Panthers until then to make a decision. If he does get released, he isn't likely to get anything close to $6.25 million from another team, so he also is facing some uncertainty. All sides involved probably would need to give a bit to make a mutually advantageous deal work. The Panthers would eat $1.5 million of Thielen's contract, getting two of the three picks the Vikings got from the Jets in the Harrison Phillips trade in return. Thielen would take a $1 million pay cut in return for having the remaining $3.8 million guaranteed. The Vikings cleared out almost exactly that much when they made the Phillips trade, allowing them to absorb what's left of Thielen's contract as part of the deal. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46053274/nfl-preseason-trades-2025-team-offers-players-draft-picks-contracts
    • From JoeBucsFan. Teams don't usually waste 2nd round picks like that. Kind of sounds like they think he just doesn't belong in the NFL.
