I haven’t listened, but based on who is posting this you just know it’s gonna be scratching his anti-Bryce itch. Can’t wait for the season.

Seeing as how big brother Bryce hater immediately slid in to wax poetic about "waiting and seeing" (after spending the entire offseason doing the opposite), I've got a feeling we’ll be hearing the same old gospel soon:

  • Tampa is the clear division favorite
  • Bryce has size limitations
  • And of course: "They gave up too much for him, so he must throw for 300+ every game or it wasn’t worth it"

I've developed a bit more of an exotic palate than some, though--so while some might fear the taste of crow, I've grown rather fond of it over the years. Hopefully I'll be having a nibble after listening, but I've got a feeling they'll have more salt in their diet than I will crow... 😉

The question is which Bryce shows up game 1. Do we get week 2 (2024) Bryce, or week 18 (2024) Bryce?

I will say that his progression after the benching last year was amazing. He literally got better every game - sans Dallas. Like every week he did something we hadn't seen him do before. And it wasn't luck, toss it up for grabs plays like Penix did against Carolina. Penix was just throwing the ball as hard as he could in the direction of a receiver and hoping they'd make a play for him. What we saw from Bryce was different. Decision making, reading defenses, recognizing blitzes and where they were coming from, knowing his hot, avoiding pressure and manipulating the pocket, throwing with anticipation, taking shots downfield, and running the ball surprisingly well. Stats don't always tell the story. Did he miss some throws that he should have made - sure did. But the clutch gene is strong with this one. One score game and Carolina has the ball with 2 minutes on the clock - I'm confident he'll give them a chance to win more than he doesn't.

I don't really care what Youtubers think. Young will either resemble Weeks 1-2 more, or Weeks 14-18 more. We don't know yet. Probably a mix of both would be my guess.

I consider last year Bryce's rookie year.....and I expect some regression/D adjustment in his second season in Canales' O.  Film is film.   So yeah, I agree....he won't be the dude that opened up the year week 1 or closed the door week 17.  We will get some dude in between it all most likely.  Which IMO puts us in a really awkward no man's land with Bryce.

Its really wild to watch this part of the community boil down the success of the 2025 Panthers to whether or not BY9 busts or breaks out.

Ill take middle of the road mistake free game manager that distributes the ball and orchestrates the offense.  If we can get that with a D that doesnt put us in a 27 point+ hole every week the team can improve.

Id love a deep post season run but honestly at this point Id be ecstatic about feeling like we could win every week.

Jake is never going to get a yellow jacket but damn if he didnt make watching the team fun.

eta: I think too many people are looking for an I told you so moment over their pre-draft "evaluation" of Bryce

I dont think "game managers" make playoff runs in the modern nfl.  And looking across the league I dont see many winning their division.  You need elite qb play.  Can bryce do it, sure maybe, has he done it, maybe in spurts so this year we shall see.

***and I guess its all relative to how you quantify the term "game manager" which to date he most certainly be.

Ive said all offseason I truly think by week 5 we know what we have in bryce, DC and this team in general.  If we cannot get at least 2 wins in the first 4 weeks then oh boy it may be another long one

Would you really put Foles or Stafford on the elite list?  They are(were) good, but elite?  Throw in some guys who got there and lost and its a respectable list of QBs not named Brady and Mahommes

Foles would be the aberation and yes Stafford is/was elite.  His stats in the 2021 season kindof proves it.  4888 yards, 41 tds, 9 in the playoffs with a 70% completion.  Yeah thats next level
