Syracuse fined for faking injuries vs Clemson to muck up the Clemson O.  Guess Cade was right on that.  First I have seen a team fined for that

Ole Miss did it A LOT last year.  Dunno if the SEC has the spine to fine anybod and if the team gets the win im not sure they would care much.

Will be interesting if folks outside the ACC start to law the law down on that.   I mean Syracuse was doing it but It wasn’t close to some of the stuff going down last year from some others

UNC has turned their entire football program into a meme. $10 mil/yr to literally be the laughingstock of all of college sports.

I am gonna be honest, I saw that coming the whole way. You scrounge up that kind of coin and you get a 73 year old guy that had NEVER coached at the college level??? Then the nepo hires and other people that were NFL unemployed or unemployable?? I mean....what in the actual fug???

I am guessing even at that price tag they couldn't get any legit interest from top coaching candidates. That's the only thing that excuses the decision making that seemed to follow.

What am insane end to BB's career.

I agree this season is off to an absolute poo show, and trending towards a 4 or 5 win disaster, but I'd give Bill at least 3 years to make some improvements.

Right now the roster is a joke because of the late start to recruiting and the lack of money spent.  If they don't pull in at least 3 or 4 major portal guys going into next season - and especially a QB - then I'll give up all hope for this program eternally.

Even when Bill was hired, there was no part of me that thought he would lead to a national championship (ever) because we'll never compete with SEC and Big Ten money to attract elite talent.  But I do think Bill could put a program in place that results in 10 wins consistently (given the horrible ACC) and make us at least look like we've seen a football before.  That's more than Mack ever did in any season except for one, in his two tenures in Chapel Hill

Right now all Bill is thinking of is where is his Viagra bottle. In between he probably thinks about football some.

3 or 4 years? Hell, Belichick will be old enough to possibly win a Presidential election by that point.

If you give BB 3 years, he may put UNC in a 5 year hole, TBH.

Also, I don't think he sticks around for 3 years. Furthermore, he had this entire charade set up as an excuse to install his son as HC. How do you imagine that will go?

If UNC is smart, they will pivot as soon as that buyout is low and before there is permanent damage.

Will address each comment separately ...

"5 Year Hole": If that happens, it's no different than where we were anyways when Mack refused to retire 2-3 years ago.  BB may not work out, but at least the administration swung for the fences.  Who else would you have hired in mid December last year?  Think about how bad our talent is now, and then multiply that by 10 with what some low level assistant we plucked from wherever would've been able to bring in with no time and no budget.

"Sticking Around / Son as HC": I have to imagine if BB quits before any success, that wouldn't bode well for his son sticking around.  The fan base, alumni and administration aren't going to want to be reminded every Saturday when we are getting beat by William & Mary that there is a Belichick on the sideline.

"Pivot": In my opinion, there are only two pivots to make if Belichick doesn't work.  1) Dump a truckload into football NIL, although not sure that's even feasible or 2) Take all that football NIL, dump it into being a dominant basketball school again, and relevant in football once every ten years with the luck of getting a Howell or Maye who are in state Tarheel kids.

The talent level on this roster is late stage John Bunting level atrocious. Think about if we'd used that Belichick money on NIL budget. That's where college football is right now. It's about how much you can offer a prospect this year then we'll talk again next year.

It's December 12th, 2024.

You have $10MM, you have to hire a coach, then you can divvy up the rest of the money in NIL.

Who do you hire and what players would you have gotten in the portal with what's leftover?
