It means that we're going to be diving in the dumpster bin for LBs. A reality that most fans came to grips with long ago. You want to make a splash move at LB, I get it. It's just that for most Panthers fans we've been watching this organization make knee jerk moves trying to assemble the best bad team they can duct tape together with seemingly no long-term vision. Most of us are ready to move past that approach. LB is going to be a weak spot this year. That's a better situation that the DL and pass rush being a weak spot and that's why we spent this off-season focusing on DL and pass rush. We also signed a premium FA safety and drafted a mid-round safety who are good in the box defenders. The D should be greatly improved. Is it going to be a top 10 unit? Highly unlikely. The goal is try to go from bottom of the barrel to middle of the pack. We weren't fixing everything in one off-season and we made the strategic call that off the ball LBs are the easier spot to find stop gap players and we spent cap space and draft picks trying to fill more premium needs.

I don't want to do anything. But if Parsons becomes available, then he must be considered, period! I would bet the farm that Morgan has already inquired. So if supporting acquiring Micah Parsons is "wanting to make a splash move," then, yeah, I'm guilty. If you don't want Parsons at any price, that's your opinion, and it's an opinion that likely a substantial amount of Panthers fans do not agree with. Now, of course, likely a substantial amount of fans may agree with it, but fans aren't making the decisions.

As for anything else, and even a potential acquisition of Parsons, it's all hypothetical, so there's really no real reason to get your panties in a wad over chopping it up on a message board. I've said many times that acquisitions depend upon the price---the relative value of the deal, and that opinion is not going to change. I've also consistently said that there's not one single way to build a team and that it's not a static exercise. I've always said this over the years, and if someone doesn't agree with it, then that's them.

Not really surprising. Let me qualify: if Parsons really becomes available. Otherwise it's really a waste of time.

I don't think that was so much on Morgan, Luvuu didn't want to play in Evaros defense wanted to blitz more.

That’s a fair point, but money talks if we threw him a higher contract I’m sure he would have stayed. He is only making around 12 mill yearly, to put in perspective if add up the contracts of Ashawn Robinson and Shy Tuttle that’s about 15 mill yearly. I’d much rather pay Luvu 15 mill then pay a jag DT and a total bum in Tuttle.

I'm not so sure about that Luvuu was very crafty with the 3 year deal he signed setting himself up for a good age 30 2-3 year extension if he performed the way he thought he would as a pass rusher.... maybe if it was a big big overpay...

He really wasn't interested in Evaros defense (league low blitz %) also let's not kid ourselves the team was 2-14 not much reason to stay.

I actually see your perspective on this, he was playing the long game here rather than a single contract. Heck he was just second team all pro, he has two more years and then he will be in line to get a real big bag. Thanks brother, honestly have been frustrated thinking about losing Luvu for a while, but it does seem like to your point Luvu wanted a better situation for his skillset.

I do think Windmon is a decent depth piece for our LB crew, he flashed some promise down the stretch and do think he can contribute.  That said, thats just a 3rd LBer (prlly should be 4th).  Without Cherilus, definitely should be looking to improve that position, but we wont have much of an option till the other teams cuts start coming through.

Yea i was sore we lost him too I remember everyone wigging but the length of the deal and the $$ just screamed of a guy betting on himself and trying to maximize his skills set were he played (which wash has)

Watch the cuts (ILB) for the following teams that are loaded at ILB and will have some tough decisions to make:

Eric Kendricks, 33, is currently a free agent, fwiw.

At his age only a band aid but that is ABSOLUTELY a call that should be made...
