Hunter was never looked at as a replacement for AT by anybody by fans.

No, but I do think he would have been used in a similar role of a zone buster slot that can run quick routes or option routes. That NFL experience of knowing man vs zone coverage and knowing where to sit against Cover 2 vs. 3 vs. 4 vs. 6/9

Don't think he was starting over Coker, but he would have definitely been next in line at slot had we of traded AT away.

I'm not saying I didn't want him on the team.

That's a damn crowded room.

Hopefully we can find some better upgrades on waivers to replace DJ, Evans, Crumedy, and backup ILB

I think Evans sticks around as a developmental piece. He strikes me as another Tremble type...never gonna light the world on fire as a pass catcher, but will run over anyone that gets in his way as a blocker.

Both the Mitchell’s made it at TE.  Interesting.

also, we should sign Isaiah Simmons.  I thought I read we were interested at some point?

With how weak we are at LB and bad at ST it makes perfect sense. He's a gunner on ST and can flex all over from SS to ILB situationally. It's not like we'd need to let go of a true ILB to make it happen (unless we are looking at someone's cut or a trade).

Yeah, for all of his “lacking a natural position,” he still would probably be the best ILB on our roster, and one of the better safeties.

As long as he is a serious contributor on ST yeah it makes sense to have a guy who can be a third stringer at a few other positions. I don't know anything bout the Packers roster or why he was let go, but we are in a pretty different situation than them

Yeah, I can’t say I’ve kept up with him closely the last couple years, but I am kind of surprised because I thought he had turned a corner a couple years ago with AZ.

    • I still think another QB is brought in Day 3. Grier is camp body level at this point.
    • We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.
    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
