Updates from Canales today after practice:

  • Icky was in uniform today but is doubtful for Sunday. BC or Nijman to start.
  • DB Damarri Mathis, who the Panthers had picked up off of waivers, tore his ACL this week on a non-contact play which is why he's been on the injury report. It occurred on Wednesday and he'll be getting surgery for it.
  • DLew + Hunt were listed as limited during the week but are not on the injury report for today
  • No game designation for A'Shawn as well

He better fuging mean, "We plan to start BC."

It really seems like they're going to at least attempt early on to make him a legit two way player as a sub-package type guy on both offense and defense. That seems like the absolutely dumbest path forward not just in the present but in terms of his development. Sometimes you have to save guys from himself. I know he sees himself as a full time two way player but dude... not in the NFL. You're drastically shortening your career and hampering your development trying to do it. IMO, the way to manage that is just tell the guy listen, you're playing CB. We're going to have a package of plays for you on offense and we'll see how it goes. The better it goes the more we'll expand it as long as your playing well in your primary role as CB.

I just do NOT see him as a WR. He has the look of a top 5 CB. This WR poo is a joke, IMO.

I have been trying to find a live sportsbook that will cut me a large wager on the Panthers not having a winning record before 2030.

Maybe eventually, he was getting ragged on in camp because of all the drops he had due to body catching and his non existent route running skills....

He's not gonna just out athlete NFL DBs.

not sure.  Also saw reports he showed rapid improvement after OTAs.   Slot generally sees weaker coverage.  I could see his athleticism being enough vs a lot of teams.

given we about to trot out our D that make Sheduer look good…..I’m not confident enough in them to knock Hunter today

You don't draft a slot guy that high. That is insane.

You might draft an elite slot and elite nickel corner that high though?  Slot is all I see him as.

it’s also a passing league that has seen a shift with all the 2 high S looks being overplayed.

I wouldn’t have drafted him.  I don’t think he was good enough at either spot to go that high.  You are forced into some dual position gymnastics that probably go away after a year or so

    • I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.
    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
