BREAKING: Panthers release official depth chart

He did literally nothing to warrant us going into this season with him as a bonafide starter. We didn’t even attempt to improve over him.

Not exactly true, we brought in Rozeboom to compete. However, when Jewell quit, our weakness got even weaker. Down right brittle!

Which means fug all for the regular season. I knew the D would not be good, but seeing this on paper really puts in perspective

Not sure why people are so upset with a second year player that looked great in camp starting. It’s not like we have a stellar ILB group.

Nick Scott on the other hand is an example of starting an inferior player, and that is a terrible decision.

I don't think it's about being pessimistic there, just realistic. We have done a pretty poor job of maintaining and building that side of the ball. It just sort of is what it is.

I mean, outside D. Brown and Horn, there are no realcore players. Several maybes/young guys but if we are being honest, that's about it. Possibly some of the rookies and maybe Wallace. The rest are replacement level journeymen or guys that should be rotational/depth players. When you get into the depth chart, it's largely PS caliber players.

I am gonna disagree. Likely more like 8-9. If you include depth guys, probably more like 14-15.

4-5 starters! If we move 4-5 of our current starters to depth (where they belong), we're all set.

IMO, both EDGE starters, one DE, both LB's, at least one CB and a S need upgrades. Potentially NT, TBD.

Now could some of these guys penciled in pan out to be above average NFL caliber starters? For sure. I just don't think the bulk of them can, hence how I came up with my numbers.

I mean, we have 6 rookies on D, so we don't know poo about them. 3 of those 6 will likely be starting sooner than later, Princely, Scourton, and Ransom. Definitely a LOT of room for growth on this side of the ball still.
