Oh yeah

that’s our altruistic GM

That wR room is ssssoooo good that the one WR that Young could find sometimes, the Panthers  could afford  to move

they did Adam ‘a solid

how about doing the PSL holders a solid, and the other 51 players on the team by keeping Young’s target

this is a business not ‘make a wish’

It is good to do right by your players.  Word travels.

Would you rather keep him here against his will and have him leave later for nothing?  I wouldn't think Thielen would sand bag it out of spite, but he might.

This isn't Madden.  You have to treat people as people and give them some respect.

If that were true, we would have actually brought in some competition for BY. Theres 52 other guys on this team that deserve a shot at winning. You want to do guys a solid. Compete. That way when they want to do what AT did it looks like a solid, not just a guy that wants to get off the Titanic before it sinks.

I think you just like to follow me around and hate on whatever I say.

At least engage in the conversation.  What would you have rather us done with the Thielen situation given he clearly wanted to go home?

Thielen was speaking highly of Bryce.  He said that was one of the reasons he came back here.  The fan base is the ones imploding on him.

I feel Thielen's opinion probably shifted after seeing how we performed in the preseason, though.

These are two completely different situations.  People are criticizing without offering their solution.  Would you have wanted us to draft a QB high and cast doubt on Bryce before the season opener?

It's not as easy as you think to balance all this.

What would, and have, championship GMs done?    How much respect does  Howie Miller give his players   How about the Patriots   Or the Chiefs   Or the Ravens

answer  Never, what  the Panthers do

it isn't Madden.  It also isn’t goodwill

if he wasnt the answer, the safety blanket for a mediocre qb, then paradoxically, why give him a raise

we can agree to disagree but the  psl owners deserve better   The fans do. So do the other players

…but ole Adam lives large in minnesota   So glad we were the better organization

1 win on the road in 3 years.   How many of those qbs had the draft capital spent on them and they still kept chances?    All things considered he is a mega bust and simply not built for the nfl.   Mentally or physically.  And for the love of God Bryce please quit doing that stupid first down point when you are getting skull drugged.

Plenty of QBs have had draft capital spent on them and still been bad. Remember Joey Harrington? The Lions drafted 3 WRs back-to-back-to-back in the 1st round trying to make that pick work.

I'm not arguing that Bryce hasn't been bad, but to say he's the worst EVER? That covers a LOT of ground.

If he wanted out, fine. But he needed to let us know that in February or March, not halfway through training camp. At that point, if I'm Dan Morgan, my answer is "tough poo" unless the Vikings give us an offer I can't turn down.

We don't know what is going on behind the scenes, so all I can do is speculate.  Maybe the raise was to try to keep him happy as he was disgruntled with our success?  No way for me to know.

He wasn't the answer for the future, but he was good for us while he was here.  I don't think we hurt anything by giving him a pay bump and sending a message to the team that he is model behavior and it gets rewarded.

By a lot of accounts, we got good value for the oldest WR in the league on a 1 year rental.

You probably would have complained as well if we got nothing and father time won this season or he walked next year and we got no return.  At least we got something.  Everyone won a bit here.

I am absolutely all in on treating players well who have earned it

the panthers did that with a pay increase that no other team would gave given him

that as enough

Carolina did the right thing last year moving on from Bryce last season after 2 games.  The right move was to then trade him.  He never sees the field again.    They fugged that up and set this debacle up.

to me, Bryce has always been year 3 Rhule.  It’s not going to work yet we committed to a known pointless season

I was just thinking about this earlier…  I don’t think it’s emphasized enough, how absolutely insane it is that we consciously as an organization decided to go into this season with the most important position on the entire team with his security teetering on what he looks like in the first 4 games or so.  Last year, they went in fully committed and still yanked him after 2 bad games.  All it took was 2 bad games to bench him after going all-in with him for the season.  There was never even a word about that being a possibility until it was already done due to his horrid play.  This year, after knowing he had already been benched previously for said horrid play, and public opinion divided on if he’s even an NFL QB, the leash is theoretically even shorter than before.  So, Dave, Dan, Bryce, they all know…  it’s in the back of all their minds - what is the threshold for him getting benched again?

And again, we literally decided to go into the season with that poo hanging over the whole team, all while they tried to peddle that “end of season” stretch bullshit to justify it.  Again, all knowing if (for us with brains, “when”) he played bad, the hook is coming.  Just fuging insane.
