Does Canalas trust Bryce?

He was benched with zero plans for him to start ever again. If not for Andy's accident he would had to compete for his job this past offseason. That's if he was still here.

I literally laughed into the phone when the ticket rep was pushing that line to me to renew PSLs after Dalton’sfirst game and I said anyone thinking Dalton could finish the season was a sucker. That was the pitch but never the reality. Bryce was being coached up for the inevitable. If that was true they would never have resigned Dalton this year but here he is waiting to do it all over again.

Dalton will not be here next season. I'm guessing Young will be here unless he's traded. They still control him for 2 more years so who knows. Who the starter will be i haven't a clue as I left my crystal ball in my other pants.

If he keeps looking like trash, we should try to trade him for anything we can get and when no one bites just cut him. $12M is too much for a backup QB with no future.

He shouldn't be here this season either but they l literally resigned him. I have no idea what next year will bring but if Young gets benched I would put $10 on him playing again regardless.

I think it's a trade and for anything to just move it to the past like teams tend to do. If it gets really bad with no upside then they might have to cut him is my guess

Their bast chance would be after this season, barring a miraculous turnaround in his play. But I think he will do just enough for the team to keep him on the roster in hopes a miracle happens until his rookie contract is up.

Next year would be the end of his rookie contract minus picking up his 5th year option.

Honestly, they needed to do this to force a decision once and for all. At least I hope that was the motivation.

They know Andy isn't going to win many if any games at all so it's going to be Young or the next guy from the draft. They didn't want a backup coming in and winning a game or two to knock them further down the draft board.

If that wasn't the plan going into this season then I'm not sure what we are doing here.

Not sure how anyone can be 100% sure that Tepper will not fire someone.  Even Tepper himself.

Tepper wouldn't be able to pull a new coach in worth a damn if he fires Canales for not getting BY to work. So he essentially has to give Canales a shot with his own QB. Which means Canales is here for 1-2 more seasons at least.

Im not sure they are sure of that they are doing here at this point. Dalton being brought back was a huge red flag just on availability given the situation. A HC in year 2 trying to tank or put draft position above winning would be wild. That sure as hell isn't earning a year 3. It's great for the next guy but not for them.

If Young doesn't turn it around meaningfully then I don't see how he is here next year one way or the other. How do you bring in a rookie with that in the QB room? If they were going to go Vet they could have signed one on a 2 year deal this year. It reeks to me they didn't

So far DC's coaching and HC ability is enough reasons for a firing.

Well your definition of vet is ambiguous. Canales had his chance to pick another guy and chose to stand pat with Andy. That's on him, and Dan to some extent for allowing it or insisting on it, which is worse. Or you can blame Tepper for it all.

    • 10 years ago, the reactions to this thread would have at the least made me question myself and what I’m seeing in my evaluation versus what I’m feeling.  But not now.  I know where this mentality comes from and we’re seeing unfold in real-time, everyday in society.  Call someone else dumb while any and all statistics supports their argument, but if you just keep doubling down, you can make people forget about facts. It’s also why my replies to this despite 16 pages have been pretty sparse outside of one, and that post was mostly ignored because it called the BS out for what it is.     I don’t take it personal, because I know for them, it is VERY personal.  Not a person alive on this planet is going to tell me, nor convince me, that any other starter in the NFL isn’t more physically talented than Bryce.  We have all read and seen the stats - 32nd out of 32 starters since being drafted.  We have watched the games.  Countless games where Bryce struggles to hit 100 yards until the 4th.  Countless times he fumbles untouched, trips over his own feet, under throws or throws behind, or just throws straight to a defender who has been lurking in the same spot from the snap.  But, there is this mysterious ancient metric that us simpletons have not gained access to, that makes him better than the stats and eye test combined.🤣🤣🤣 Kyler Murray is wildly physically gifted, but specially for his size.  He has a laser arm, and he’s a quick, twitchy athlete.  Baseball background, multi-sport star.  And he’s statistically better than Bryce.  In my observations and estimation, his only downside is I don’t think he has ever applied himself and he doesn’t prepare as he should.  He relies on his talent alone, and I think that also carries over to questions about leadership.  But, all of that considered, these guys don’t want him over Bryce.  So again, I ask why?  The same logic is applied to Shedeur.  Hell, I would apply the same logic to Brissett.  Jameis.  Any fuging body with physical talented to throw a football.  If you have the worst starter in the league, proven over almost three full years, what do you owe him?  Hint: It’s not another year.  One can deduce from that point that you could easily find a replacement that will give you better production, even from someone who go isn’t a current starter.     I knew society had gotten dumber, but damn…  “don’t tell me what’s better!  I want to keep fuging myself and nobody can stop me!”🤣🤣🤣
