Can we all admit it now?

He's got 6 game winning drive brother.

Again, I'm not saying he's a top 10 QB in the league. But this is an overreaction. The whole team is not as good as you think it is.

His "game winning drives":

The only two where he actually had TDs had the same thing in common. We were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Guys, jokes and poking fun aside, this was his shot. If he had a chance to turn the corner and get over the hump THIS WAS IT. His confidence had to have been soaring after feasting on soft zone all second and yet he STILL reverted right back to his timid, unsure looking self as SOON as we actually had a shot at the end. The switch just absolutely flipped off. He's just a different QB when there's something on the line. And I mean that in the absolute worst of ways. Some QBs are gamers. Jake was famous for looking mediocre in practice and turning it on during games and being at his best in big moments. Bryce is the opposite of that. Sn anti-gamer if you will.

Like I said early in the game thread, these games are over before they even start for us because we’re climbing out of a hole Bryce made, and he makes everyone else out there look shitty.  I think they said during the broadcast that we don’t know what we have because there’s so much dysfunction, and they’re right.  And it’s because of Bryce, and I’ll give a slight amount of blame to the coaching/playcalling.  But because Bryce is limited in size and physical ability, they either can’t call certain things, or when they do, he usually can’t do it - at least not consistently.  As a result, receivers get put in tough spots to catch, are thrown hospital balls.  We also can’t get it to the receivers that need it consistently because Bryce can’t see them.  RBs can’t get going because we usually go down early and can’t afford to run much, AND the defense stack the box and shoot the gaps aggressively because they have zero fear of Bryce as a passer.  OL gives up pressures because they don’t know where tf Bryce is half the time because he bails early, in part because he is uncomfortable and his vision is limited in the pocket.    It’s a domino effect that all starts and ends with Bryce.

Tough to evaluate what we have and what we can do when Bryce makes everyone and everything around him look and play worse.

as I was watching Bryce run a dump off fest for 5 yard hooks to JT for the larger part of 3 quarters, I kept thinking - if we had a QB who could push the ball downfield, imagine how JT could be used.  A big, athletic TE, just running free down the seams.  But nope, come play for the Panthers and their QB who is built like a preschooler, with the arm to boot, so you too can run 5 yard hooks routes once the game is 27-3 because said QB turns the ball over a minimum of twice a game.

Watching Hubbard run shouldn’t  award  him with a GWD

My biggest issue is he doesn't have the tools to succeed in crunch time. When the defense is collapsing in on the QB the elite guys can take off running, or throw a laser 40yds downfield for a first down, or break a tackle to extend a play. Bryce will throw a wounded bird up for grabs, or get touched and fall down. He also seems scared to use his legs bc he knows he's one big hit away from being carted off the field. These are the reasons he gets happy feet in these moments, because he literally has no options.

These factors give the opposing defense such a huge advantage. In college he could get away with it, but it was a huge oversight not to consider these factors when we mortgaged our future for this guy. He's a borderline starter in this league. That's what we have. I'll say this for him, he's not the worst QB we've had here, but he's not close to being what we need if the goal is to create a winning franchise.

The situation after the onside recovery is a W with 25+ starting QBs.  We all knew how it would go with ours however.

I wouldn't say a guaranteed W but they'd at least give you a chance. Bryce didn't give us a chance and THAT is precisely the problem. He was right back to scrambling around looking timid and unsure, taking bad sacks, and badly missing throws. And that was with the refs throwing flags to give us second and third chances. He still couldn't manage to move us an inch.

Not guaranteed of course but 80%+ with the ridiculous roughing call.  Generally speaking we're saying the same thing - when it matters, he just can't play.

Fun fact--in Bryce's 6 wins in 2+ seasons, none have been by more than one score and all came down to the wire. So even in his wins he had to snatch victory out the jaws of defeat.  Largest margin of victory is 6 points, twice, both times in OT.

We also need to admit that canales is ass. If he had kicked those extra points, all we would have needed was a field goal on that last drive

Yeah that bothered me. I hate chasing points which if miss the first one, that’s what usually happens.
